  3. Have you read them yet? I have a copy on my nightstand from the library. This deal is too awesome to pass up but I do have some books I bought without reading it first and turns out I didn’t like it too much. I’ll wait for it to go on sale again next time. Thanks for sharing it!

    1. Yes, but I like owning them since I can’t own the hardcovers (ebooks for now). If a book sucks, then at least it was only $1.99, but most of the books on sale are books I’ve read so far. Others are raved about, like the Schwab book and Bardugo’s book. I jump on the deals because I get to see my library grow and I can reread them again. And it’s nice to know I have a copy of a book I enjoyed.

    1. I don’t mind at all…I just synced my Kindle because I use my iPad more often, and I think it said 212? I’m good with remembering numbers…it was 159 last time I used the actual Kindle to read with versus the Kindle app. Is that a lot? I don’t know! I have my purchased books, my NetGalley books, and my RaR books. Anything that was sent to me via email I can email to my Kindle and read it that way. It’s so much easier because then the book syncs between all my apps and I can start from my iPad mini and when that gets low on battery, I can move to my other iPad mini (the older one), or to my iPhone, or to my actual Kindle. It helps a lot!

  5. Yeah, I didn’t think it was too bad…some of the books were from authors toting free books on Goodreads before I knew anything about NetGalley, so I would download them because they were free. I won’t read some of those. One author gave me a copy of his book called The Awakening, but it was weird, so I DNF’ed it. I was so new to Goodreads that I just never emailed him and never read it. I still feel guilty today about it.
    I also have a set of books that was sent from the UK from the author himself, and I have yet to read them. I was terrible at all this in the beginning. The only cool thing that happened was that I won a Goodreads giveaway once and received a free copy of Red Rising, and I still haven’t read that either! Just too many books, not enough time. (That’s why I like to own them…though I’m less likely to read them if I own them, because I know I’ll always have them versus the library books that have a due date…I know, I’m weird!!).
    I was a bad at this stuff for a long time!

  6. We learn as we go, so no worries hehe I also read more books from the library than books I own. Also, those free books are hard to say no. I signed up for BookBub emails and received Amazon links for free books everyday. I have since learn to control hoarding those free ones because I currently have 49 books on NetGalley I need to get through hence my 53% instead of 80% approval ratings hehe Congrats on winning the giveaway & invitation to read directly from the author. That’s pretty rare. Never too late to read them & send in your review 😊

  7. Before you told me about the number of rejected requests mattered, Every week I went on there and did a request spree. I did them under most requested, YA, women fiction, thriller, etc. I have 100 rejected, 128 approved and 10 pending. I also requested based on pretty covers. Some are from 2015.. Yikes. There are few from the read now section that i thought looked interesting. Also I joined since end of 2014. I noticed you are excited for The Bone Witch. I have that too. I’m reading Dark Matter now. More people gives 5 stars than 4 on goodreads. 😊

    1. Did you get Stealing Snow? Cause I will die of jealousy if you got that.
      I was surprised i got The Bone Witch. I really was. I felt lucky. I’ve so far only gotten 23 books read out of 26 on my shelf…when I finish one, I’ll request another.
      Even if there are ones I really want to read, I’ll wait sometimes because I don’t want to have too many, I would tackle that list before some of the books get archived. But I noticed having my own blog helps. I didn’t for awhile and I think that’s why I got turned down a lot.
      But i have been rejected from most of the really popular books except The Bone Witch. I just need more reviews.
      Good for you on all the approvals though. If you requested that many, and got 100 rejections but 128 approves, then that equals 25 rejected to 32 approved (fractions, yay!!) which is 78% approval rate. That’s pretty damn good! Be proud of yourself! And read those books! 👍👍👍

      1. Fractions.. eww.. haha.. Thanks! 78% is easier to understand. I didn’t get the Stealing Snow. Also, careless me, a lot of my rejections came from books that specifically asked for UK readers. There are 2 Stealing Snow on NetGalley: US and UK. I requested both. I need to read carefully next time hehe

  9. Yeah, I didn’t know about not requesting UK or other country editions…they had Replica up and I almost requested it, but saw it was for Aussies only. I was so bummed.
    I’m trying to do better to get RaRs on edelweiss but it’s hard because I have to upload my reviews from Goodreads, and to do that I have to use the computer.
    So for right now I’m just going to focus on what I’ve got and stay away from any new books…I have 20 something still from the library, all excellent-looking books that are popular.
    (And I think they should tell people about the rejections being seen by publishers…if we would have known, we probably both would have stayed away from requesting too many titles too soon. I even made a new account in the beginning because I got so many denies, but I suddenly got approved for something so I never use the new account; it’s like a blank slate if I were to ever need it.)

  10. Yeah, but you get A LOT more declines. You have to have reviews on Edelweiss to be considered, so go to your profile, reviews, export library, and it will transfer your Goodreads reviews to your Edelweiss account. There are some that you can read now, like NetGalley, and get right away. But most of the people I know that get galleys from there are huge bloggers, like The Eater of Books or Cuddlebuggery. I tried for so many and got denied. That’s why I like NetGalley. But if I keep blogging and things go well, then I’m going to try Edelweiss again.
    But for now, I’m just waiting…getting that many declines is depressing. 😓
    But let me know if you find a good title and get approved. Maybe we could buddy read it?

  11. I went on a request spree on Edelweiss today and requested 5 books. We’ll see how that goes haha. I will look into exporting reviews on my goodreads to edelweiss. I need to manage goodreads first because there are books that i marked read but no rate or reviews and there are reviews but very short with a link to my blog because I’m like you, don’t want to get on the computer to copy and paste over the whole blog post 😊

    1. Oh, don’t worry…I’m in the same boat there. When I first started on Goodreads, I thought the only thing that was important were the star ratings. So half of my read books don’t have a review. I’ll have to go back and review them, but it will be time-consuming. I haven’t always posted them on Amazon either, and for that I feel bad, too.
      I’m glad I’ve gotten into the practice now though. Let me know what Edelweiss sends you, and hopefully we can read together. 😀

      1. That’ll be hard to go back to reviewing them. I can hardly remember the characters or any details. Better to move on forward I think. How to read together? Or how to buddy read? I haven’t done that before haha

  12. You just read them at the same time, and when someone gets to a certain point (like set 10 chapters or a page number), you discuss what’s happened so far and how you like it. You keep checking in like that so that you can share your feels with someone while you read it instead of waiting until you’re done for a review!
    I tried to do it once with someone, but they never got the book. I read the whole series, and it was her book that she picked! Luckily, it was the Gone series, and I had never heard of it, so I got to experience an awesome book because of her.
