This or That Book Tag…

This tag was created by Ayunda @ Tea And Paperbacks & this one is all about your reading preferences,so thank you for creating this fun and introspective tag!

I thank LairofBooks for tagging me! This one is not as time consuming as some other ones, so I can get this one done right now! (Still need to do my Pokémon Go tag: I’m a slacker, I know!!)

Here are the rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Choose one of the options, you don’t have to tell the reasons why you chose that but you can also do them if you want to.
  • Tag 10 other people to do this tag to spread the love!

And here are the questions:

Reading on the couch or in the bed?

Oh, the couch, though I mostly read in my enclosed patio because I’m a smoker (I know, it’s bad!) and when I read, I tend to get lost and need to smoke as a side activity. When doing homework or anything that involves reading or blogging, I’m out here. But I occasionally go inside when it’s too hot and just chill on the couch while my mom watches tv, trying to engage me and get my head out of the book.

Male main character or Female main character?
Female character. It’s hard for me to get into the mind of a male character. I still do, but it’s hard. I do like books that switch POVs though, so I can know what the boy is thinking.

Sweet Snacks Or Salty Snacks?

Uh, Sweet of course!! Hands down! Give me cavities or give me death!!

Trilogies Or Quartets?

Trilogies. I will read a quartet, as most VC Andrews’ books are written with three books and a prequel. I’m good with a prequel as a fourth book. But definitely no more than that. Only exception is the Gone series by Michael Grant, and Unwind Dystology by Shusterman.

First Person POV Or Third Person POV?

I prefer 1st person, because then I feel like I’m in their head and can understand the character better, and their motivations. But I definitely prefer books written in past tense to present tense, but I don’t know why!

Reading At Night Or In The Morning?

At night. Mornings are too early, and I will faceplant into my book as I fall asleep. But mainly all day reader over here: after the fear of falling asleep and burning my book with a cig has passed.

Libraries Or Bookstores?

I think most of you that know me already know the answer to this…Libraries!! I love me a good bookstore, but I don’t have the $$$. And the ladies at my library are so nice. Speaking of which, I have some books to renew that are due today.

Books That Make You Laugh Or Books That Make You Cry?

Laugh and cry. Must have both or it’s too dramatic.!

Black Book Covers Or White Book Covers?

I don’t understand why certain books are white and some black. I like the look of both, as long as they are grouped (like with like).

Character Driven Or Plot Driven Stories?

That’s a tough one: I would say character, but sometimes there is too much character, not enough plot, you know? But for now, I’ll stick with plot-driven, because those are what make fantasy and science fiction so important. I’d like my characters to be deep, but still not be stuck in their heads and hear their repetitive insecurities over and over again.

I tag:

I love this tag! I did it last year, I think, and I had so much fun, but thank you so much for tagging me. ❤

I'm always stumped on the male vs female POV question, though. My favorite books of all-time are basically all male narrators: Harry Potter, the Secret History, the Chaos Walking series, the Perks of Being a Wallflower, the Summer that Melted Everything. But then I mostly gravitate towards books with female protagonists. It's just such a weird thing to think about. XD

  2. I’ve thought about it, actually. I get frustrated with male protagonists because I can’t think like a boy. But when there is a dual perspective book, then I can handle it. I just have a harder time identifying with boys…but I’ll read the book if it sounds good.

  3. Thanks again for the tag! I’ve done this one before but with different questions so I’ll be doing it again with your questions! 🙂
I feel like most of my answers will be the opposite to yours though, I always read more in the morning on the commute to work than in the evening, evenings for me are for blogging, and I will always pick salty treats over sweet ones! 😀
Thanks again for the tag! 🙂

  4. Libraries are great aren’t they? And I’m so happy that they are up to date with their young adult collections. One time, while in line to check out books, this other lady has a stack of 4 books on her hands, and she told the librarian, “just doing a little light reading”. I thought she must be a fast reader like you. 4 books are not light reading to me. Thanks for the tag 🙂

    1. You’re welcome!
Just went to the library yesterday to renew two books, and picked up my two holds, and grabbed a book from the New Releases shelf. I walked out with 5…but because you can renew so many times, I usually have time to read the majority of them. And an ebook just became available.
I was going to write a post about my book haul, but I have to get two books read ASAP. I won’t be doing much blogging tonight because I had to work today. Lol.

      1. You’re right. Just read your answers again. We do have a lot in common. I would read in the sunroom if I have one. You should quit smoking, 😇. This lady I used to work with. She looks older than her age because she smokes. She has those deep wrinkles around her mouth. Not pretty to look at. 😜 (just a nice reminder, no offense lol)

      1. That’s longer than I ever quit: I did it for 3 months…then I got dumped one night and picked it back up at a party and I regret it because no one is worth my health. That was…over ten years ago!! Wow!! Time has really flied!!

      2. Yeah, there’s always the relapse regrets…and as for quitting, I never found an easier method to stick to, personally, than simply not buying a pack. gum and plasters- pointless, in my case… just simply do not buy and wow, one day off became three years… and tbh, if you don’t want to quit, you won’t, there won’t be a single thing going to help you! 😀 and you’re right, no one is worth your health, but when people piss you off then you just can’t help but grab for a cig…
what’s really funny is, every time (not often) I cry like, proper ugly cry (after a movie or a book, or a fight with the hubby) and go for a smoke, the crying lasts only 30 secs flat because the breathing in and out calms me down 😀 hahaha, too bad I can’t do that without a cigarette 😀

  5. It’s ok…I’m used to the smoking comments.
I actually am lucky and have good genes. But I want to lose the rest of my excess weight, then quit smoking.
Yes, we have a lot of similar tastes!

  6. No, I love that you’re honest and own it. You’re not like everyone else that’s like, no, you should quit…blah, blah, blah.
Finally a smoker, someone that I can relate to!
    Definitely no sarcasm. Just love.
