Dust off Your Bookshelf Thursday…

I was hunting for daily themes that would reflect what I want to post, and what would correspond to today. I was going to call it TBR Thursday, but that sounds better as TBR Tuesday, don’t you agree?

The purpose of this theme is to share the books that are gathering dust, waiting to be read. So I decided I would share the MANY library books I’ve been telling y’all about.

This is my local library:

Here is the inside… (I did not take these pics, and they are all that I can find because my town is small)

And this is how it used to look:

Being originally from Phoenix, seeing this kind of stuff just makes me feel so amazed that this little town has grown so much. I may not be from here, but now that I am here I feel a lot of pride.

Ok, enough show and tell. Here’s the list of books currently checked out from my library…I know, I’m checking out WAY too many to get through, so thank goodness for renewals! (Copied from my account page on my library’s website)

As you can tell, I like to get the sequels to books that are most likely going to be books I like, so I check those out usually after I read the first book, but sometimes if it’s new you want to grab it ASAP. I cannot renew them if there’s a hold on them, so I try to make sure I at least read the popular ones first, but I do go in order of due date (which kills me bc I want to read Red Queen).

So maybe now you see how hard it is for me to pick up anything new…although it seems every time I come in to return one, I leave carrying two.

So…what do you think of my list? I’ll leave you with a couple covers of the lesser known books…

And…I have two on hold: The Sleeping Prince and The Beauty of Darkness. I know. I know. I’m shaking my head, too, now that I see it in this post. I’m bad.

  1. How can you borrow 20? There’s a limit to my card. I can borrow 15 books. I haven’t gone up that far, except for kids books.. haha.. That library looks nice and cozy. I don’t recognize some of the titles, but the cover looks inviting 🙂

    1. We can borrow up to 100 books. I don’t know if it’s the small town or not.
(They told me that there really is no limit, but if they had to execute one, it would be 100). What city do you live in? Is it big? Small?

  2. Your library looks so cute. Mine is sad and depressing and had no good books. I still need to use OverDrive to get some of them on Kindle. They seem to have just about everything on Kindle. My library has no real limit. They say around 100 books, which is insane. Who would check out 100 books when they’re due back in two weeks? 😂

    1. Right? I know…who wants to check out that many? I know 25 is a lot, but with reviews, I can usually manage most of them. 100? No. Thank. You.
I need to take some good pics of our library. It was recently redone so there’s only the ones I could find that I posted…but I’m going to take some because I think our library is cute. Our YA section is cute, and we have a tween section! I love it there.
Yes, I have 4 or 5 checked out on Overdrive. Some are duplicates so that I can read physical or ebook, one I checked out by accident bc I actually own it, but it wouldn’t let me return it, and one just came available from a super long hold.
So yeah, I get behind on my blog because of all the reading!

      1. That’s what I said to the librarian when she told me 100 books. My library is awful. It’s dark, small, and dusty. The YA section was so sad and they had almost nowhere to sit. I’ve been reading a ton lately. I try to squeeze in some reviews in between, but I’ve been on a bit of a marathon lately. 🙂

  3. Hmmm…it must be Montgomery’s policy because of something that happened there. I think when I lived in Phoenix their library had a limit like that, too. People will check out a bunch of books and then sell them, never to return. That happens in bigger cities. I live in a town of 10,000 people or so…compared to Phoenix which had over a million. I’m guessing that’s it.
    I’m sorry, hon. 🙁

  4. That library does really look cosy! 🙂
You have some intriguing books (by the look of covers as well) in your TBR pile… sooo.. there’s some reviews upcoming by you soon,eh? 🙂

  5. I’m sad for your library…big city? Small?
I think I would die, but the GVSU library is pretty good. Because I go to school there, I get to use their library, and they have a decent YA section. Is there a school you go to that has a better library?
It kills me when libraries are dark and dusty instead of airy and comfy. The YA section has big comfy chairs and computers, and it’s set apart from the rest of the library. It’s rarely busy, so when I’m there I’ll sometimes just sit and read.

  6. This is such a great post, i loved being able to get a little look around your library. Also wow, 100 books is insane! My library will only let people borrow 14 at a time, and there were certainly days when I had to make agonishing choices between two books when I was on 13 already and could only borrow one more!
This is such a lot of books as well, how long do you think it will take you to get through them all? I haven’t read all of them but some of them are favourites of mine (the Shatter Me trilogy, Laini Taylor, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Wrath and the Dawn, Cruel Beauty) so I really hope you love them all! 😀

    1. I do try to pace myself. The ones that have been renewed twice are leftovers from maybe a month ago? What’s good is I can renew at least once online, and by that time I can usually get them read. I have more than usual because it’s summer and I don’t start school for a couple more weeks. I still have to work, but it’s part time. The amount will go down during school.
I requested Cruel Beauty after Crimson Bound.
I am hearing a lot about this limit thing. What city? Big, small?

      1. Oh that is good, I could renew online as often as I liked with my library as well unless someone else had requested the book.
Ahh I’m kind of jealous now, I can’t remember the last time I had a summet holiday or work part time giving me more time to read.
I’d say kind of a medium sized city, but it’s the whole kind of chain of libraries in Essex, no matter what one I go to I can only take out 14 books at any one time!

    1. Thank you! I knew I had to show you guys what I meant when I said I had a lot of library books checked out…now I feel like I’ve shared my burden,
I originally wasn’t going to include pics of my library, but I thought that it would be nice for you guys to see what it looked like. Someone else posted their library and it was so bare and sad! Unfortunately there are not many pics of the library online, so I would still like to take some and show the cute YA section. You should see my campus’s new library: they just redid it and it’s 6 floors high with rooftop patios and reading books built into the wall.
      Thank you so much!! 😊

So many books that you checked out are books I really wanna read! I’ve read Ink and Bone and it was almost a DNF for me. The Forest of Hands and Teeth I’ll be reading soon, so I’m looking forward to your review when you finish reading it.

I love seeing these photos of your library! It’s amazing seeing the history and how much things have changed. This was a great post! 🙂
