Cover Doubles…Again!

I’ve now made this a regular post. Why, you ask?

Because it’s just too darn awesome to see the same cover twice! And I’ve found several that I’m saving for later…but I came across this one just today and just couldn’t wait to share…

Here’s the more “popular” book lately:

This is the second book in the Tainted Elements series. It was on NetGalley for awhile, too.

Now here’s the more obscure (but has been published longer) book:

They can do a lot with these stock models: change their eyes, hair color, etc. But this one troubles me: the more “popular” book by Entangled Teen came out after this book. (2014 vs 2015) Hmm. I wonder if it truly is a coincidence?

Ehh, how am I kidding? I’m sure it is. No one looks through books like I do. I’ve gone through 216 pages of Young Adult on Amazon to look at books. I’m sure most people would never notice…

…but I did. Mwhoohaahaa!! ::cackles::

    1. I just feel bad for the smaller author who published first, you know?
I’m not sure which one I like best. I think the eyes are a little creepy bin the popular one. But I literally did a double take this morning when I found it.
I have two more I’ve been saving, but I HAD to share this one because I remember it on NetGalley and a lot of people requested it.

Oh God, I always see this happen! I read a lot of self published books so I see quite a few cover doubles. It’s really annoying! Especially when one book is so good another another is terrible. Subconsciously, I always associate the two and then I can’t remember which was actually the good one cause they both have the same covers!

    1. That’s what I’m trying to show with these posts…it’s actually detrimental to a book’s success to share covers with another. It just makes the book look unoriginal. And you have to admit, we ALL judge a book by its cover!
      I also think it’s kind of funny….😁

    2. Well, I have two more I plan to post, but I couldn’t wait with this one because I’ve seen the first book so often.
I hope you get a kick outta them, though I hope I don’t spoil any future reads for you, too! (I just realized I would feel bad if I did that to anyone…)

  2. Another book double! You know I could swear I’ve read a book with this cover but I don’t think it’s either of the two you’ve found on this post. (I could be wrong though, I’ve read a lot of books and I have been more on my to-read list.)
The two covers do look very similar though, but I think I prefer the second one, it just seemed to stand out a little more you know.
I’m glad you’re making this a regular feature. I can’t wait to see what doubles you discover next! 😀

    1. I’ve got some waiting in the wings…ready for a random day. But this one was sudden!
I think the second one is a little bit snazzier.
I think it’s a fun post. And I love to share them with you guys…I can’t do it alone. I have to share my fascination! And new obsession. Lol.
      Thank you!!

      1. Well I can’t wait to see what one you post next, and I’m guessing the fact that you have a few waiting in the wings means there’s a lot out there.
I love reading them as well. It’s always interesting to see how similar some covers can actually be you know! 😀

    2. I’m really glad you enjoy it…because if you guys hated it, I would stop, but it would suck because I enjoy it so much. And I don’t have as many as there probably are, but I found another one today by accident…it’s just sometimes I can see the image and think, “Wait a minute…that looks familiar.” The hardest part is remembering the other book that bears the cover. I can have trouble remembering the other book’s name, because I maybe saw it for a second. So sometimes I save it until I come across the other one.
      Maybe I have a good memory for images? I don’t know…🤔

      1. I think if you enjoy it you should keep doing it no matter what. But obviously you don’t have to worry about that because I love these posts! 😀
Oh yeah there are probably loads out there, and I think finding them by accident are the best thing as well! It sounds like you do have a good memory for images! I definitely don’t because I feel like I’ve seen the cover before but I can never remember so I just push it to the back of my mind! 🙂

  3. Ack! I hate it when this happens! And I get why it does. It’s expensive to do a photoshoot specifically to get a photo for a book cover, which is why professional covers can be upwards of $800! You can get a decent one for around $125, but that means that the designer either lost a LOT of money, used previously shot personal photography, or paid a relatively small price for stock images. When you’re self publishing or going with a small publisher, it’s too expensive to pay for a completely original cover and you’ll be hard pressed to recoup the cost anytime soon. Still, it sucks, because I read a book (Howl by Jody Morse) and I hated it. It was terrible. Now, I’ve seen the same model/pose on the cover of other novels, but I can’t bring myself to give them a shot because they all remind me of that one terrible book! It’s not fair, but I can’t quite make myself move past it…

Anyway, sorry for the ramble, lol, but good catch! And… I really like the less popular book cover better. It looks more intense.

    1. That’s what is so sad about finding these…once you see one, the other looks like a sham, you know? If I found one AFTER I had read a book, I would definitely have a hard time reading its doppelgänger. But to see them both…now I don’t want to read either. But the funny thing is, I got the first book pictured for free. So I don’t know if I’ll read it or not.
But I get what you’re saying about the stock image photos. I feel like there should be a list next to the pic saying the name of the book it’s been used with…if it’s been used!

    2. OMG: a cover triple!! Wow!
Thanks for sharing…I should add it into the post!
I have some others but haven’t had time to put them up…a couple of doubles, a triple, and one quartet!!
It’s so crazy to see that girl on 3 different covers. If you see anymore, let me know, and I’ll make a post about them!

    1. Awesome! A book double! I am getting quite the file, and I need to post another one soon. I’m off work Friday and Saturday, so I’ll showcase some of my finds!
Thanks for thinking of me…at first I thought they were books recs…I was like, hmmm, not my genre, but nice of her to think of me…then I saw the second one and realized what you were showing me.
When I post them, I’ll credit your find! Thanks again for thinking of me! 😊

    2. I had a coworker ring me up for two pairs of leggings because I didn’t have time to try them on before the store closed and the deal for us employees ended that day. When one pair fit, I took the other pair back. Apparently I was only allowed to buy ONE pair of leggings. “But,” I told me boss, “I DID only buy one pair: that’s why I returned the second pair!” Honestly, I didn’t even know there was a limit, but I brought them back the next day. They let me work for two weeks thinking I would get a write-up…then I went in yesterday to work my shift and she had me sign my write-up…THEN fired me. I was so pissed.
The boss never liked me anyway: she HATED that I was a smoker and complained that I smelled all the time. She also told me once that I looked like “a Wal-mart employee” in my outfit, and that I should do my hair and makeup better.
She also hit me with a coat hanger once.
I only stayed as long as I did because I liked the discounts on clothes and the hours worked around my school schedule, though she was always asking me to stay late or come in on days off. I think she just wanted a manager that eat, breathed, and lived Lane Bryant. I didn’t: school was always #1. Hell, it had to be number one, bc I was paying $997/month!
Ugh. The whole thing is upsetting. I didn’t cry. I refused to give her the satisfaction. She was smiling and it made me so much angrier about the whole thing.
Yes, more time to read now, and I’ll find something in the meantime: it’s the best time to look for work bc of all the seasonal hiring!

What a cranky old cow!!! Of course school is going to come first!!
Definitely the best time of year for a new job. But what a bitch! Who smiles when firing someone!!! Should have punched her in the throat! Lol.

    3. I agree: the year has gone fast…much faster for you, obviously! What is it, Halloween over there right now? So crazy…I don’t like time zones…I think we should eliminate them all! Abolish time zones! That’s my new platform! I’ll battle it to the death, lol! ::shakes fist:: 👊

Yes it is Halloween right now… I did not even think of that! Time zones need to go! I hate when you guys get to watch the TV shows first and then post spoilers…. It sucks!!

Because all the shows are US shows, we generally have to wait til they are aired over there first…
However some shows are aired at the same time, but they’re always shown at odd times because you guys just can’t keep up lol.
