#ReadThemAllThon TBR

So there’s this little readathon going from ReadatMidnight‘s blog. It’s from August 14-Sept 4. I don’t know if I’ll make it, so I was hesitant to sign up. Then Aimal at Bookshelves and Paperbacks made me a badge, and it was too cool not to use.

So this is what I’m going to do so I can participate:

  • I’m not doing it for points. I’m going to sign up, and leave a link, and all that jazz…but I’m just going to do it to get my badges. No points, just badges.
  • I’m going to see if it’s okay if after the readathon, I just keep going. I would like to do it for my own sense of accomplishment. But I’ll try my darnedest to get it done in time!

So that’s it. Because Aimal made me a beautiful badge, I would like to use it.

So here we go:

Here is the beautiful trainer card that Aimal sent me:

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Since the readathon goes from Aug 14-Sept 4, and I read this book on the 16th, I’m including it. I gave it ★★★★★ and raviewed it for y’all. I even have continued with the series by picking up The Evolution of Mara Dyer. I’ll still include a blurb in case you missed the review or haven’t read it:

Mara Dyer doesn’t believe life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.

This is a book that takes place right after Shatter Me, from the perspective of the villain. These books always make me cry. The “bad guy” obviously became the way he is from a bad childhood, and I’m sure I’m going to see what makes him tick. And it’s going to break my heart.

Here’s the blurb:

In Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of . . .

Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, the Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.

Been dying to read this. I know everyone and their mother has read this already.

This time…it’s personal.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

This one’s easy for me. All my books feature epic romance! (I’m a mushball)

Do you know how hard it was to find this book cover? And have it be big enough? Weird…

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

Also easy. Pretty much all I read.

The war between humanity and Faerie devastated both sides. Or so 15-year-old Liza has been told. Nothing has been seen or heard from Faerie since, and Liza’s world bears the scars of its encounter with magic. Trees move with sinister intention, and the town Liza calls home is surrounded by a forest that threatens to harm all those who wander into it. Then Liza discovers she has the Faerie ability to see—into the past, into the future—and she has no choice but to flee her town. Liza’s quest will take her into Faerie and back again, and what she finds along the way may be the key to healing both worlds.

Janni Lee Simner’s first novel for young adults is a dark fairy-tale twist on apocalyptic fiction—as familiar as a nightmare, yet altogether unique.

Since I’m not doing points, I’m duplicating this one. I could literally do either this one or The Wrath & The Dawn.

You already got the blurb for this…no need to be repetitive!

This one took a minute…but I found one that I have from Overdrive that’s just perfect for this…though I have many non-library books that would fit this category that I’ve been meaning to read, rhe whole point of this is to use books that are due back before the end of this challenge. And here it is:

Humanity is split into the App World and the Real World—an extravagant virtual world for the wealthy and a dying physical world for the poor. Years ago, Skylar Cruz’s family sent her to the App World for a chance at a better life.

Now Skye is a nobody, a virtual sixteen-year-old girl without any glamorous effects or expensive downloads to make her stand out in the App World. Yet none of that matters to Skye. All she wants is a chance to unplug and see her mother and sister again.

But when the borders between worlds suddenly close, Skye loses that chance. Desperate to reach her family, Skye risks everything to get back to the physical world. Once she arrives, however, she discovers a much larger, darker reality than the one she remembers.
Wish me luck, ok guys? This is the first of this kind of thing I’ve ever done.

And once again, thank you Aimal for the amazing Pichu badge! I’m going to need the first one colored in because it’s already done, and I’ve finally had a minute to make this post! (Took forever, but it’s worth it!)

Anyone else participating?

    1. Well, Aimal offered to make me a badge, and I was thrilled because she makes amazing memes. And graphics. She also said she’ll color in the badges for me. So I didn’t want the badge to go to waste. And I love Pichu. And Pikachu. (But they’re the same, I guess)
So that’s why I have one. Otherwise I wouldn’t. And without the badge, I might not have done the challenge because it is time-consuming to make the post. So it worked out!
I wish you well on your challenge…who’s your Pokémon?

    2. Sorry, I asked your Pokémon even though you specifically stated you didn’t bother to get one.
Is there one you would have picked in particular? Like one you like more than others? Or are you not a Pokémon fan (because some people aren’t)?

  1. Ohh good luck with this read-a-thon! 😀 I’ve never taken part in one before but I’ve seen loads of people taking part in this one and it looks like a load of fun!
You’ve got some great books on your list as well. Destroy Me, The Wrath and the Dawn, and A Court of Thorns and Roses are favourites of mine so I hope you really love them. Also I can’t wait to see your review for Until I Die, I’ll hold off adding it to my to-read list until I see what you think of it! 😀

    1. Thank you! I’m so lucky I had a badge made for me. And I just decided, well, I have so many library books to read by this date, so I might as well have them count toward something, right?
But I want to continue even if I don’t finish in time. I’d like to see that accomplishment!

    2. Thank you! I’m very happy about my badge, though Aimal is out of town and can’t fill it in yet, but I’ll probably be done with another one by the time she gets back and she can fill in two at once!
Yeah, I decided that if I’m going to give it a try, I’m going to do it to completion, whether it matters or not. I’m not doing points to win anything: I’m doing this for me. I wish it was just a self-challenge instead of a readathon, because I would like to feel like time doesn’t matter. I HATE deadlines. And due dates. Probably because it reminds me of the library, lol! 😅

      1. That’s a shame but at least when she’s back you’ll have a couple of updates, more progress that way as well! 😀
Kind of like with the Goodreads challenge then. I always take part in that and I’ve yet to fail one of my goals, even if it means getting through loads of books in December because I’m really behind on my goal! 🙂 It’s always a great feeling when you complete something like this.
And I definitely know what you mean about deadlines, it’s why I was so stressed during uni, I never cared about deadlines for coursework until they were literally right around the corner!

    3. Yeah…probably not. I’ve been trying to read a galley for a site for two days and that’s taken up a lot of time, but I’m almost done, then I have another due Sept 4. I’m probably just going to have to do it for me. But that’s why it’s hard to do readathons: real life gets in the way!

      1. Yeah, I try and divide my time equally between everything I need get done in a day but I find my reading normal suffers if I’m too busy to get everything done. Probably why I wouldn’t be good at completing a read-a-thon, but maybe one day, you never know! 🙂

    4. Never say never! I just want to complete the badge, and if I don’t have a truckload of books that need reading, I will definitely participate! I don’t mind readathons…I’m just horrible with due dates. 😉

  2. Oh, I totally loved The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and The Wrath and the Dawn (as well as The Rose and the Dagger)! I liked Shatter Me a lot as well, but I just haven’t gotten around to reading the rest of the series. What did you think of it?

    1. Omg, I loved Shatter Me! The series was excellent! Advise you to totally continue the series!
I have yet to read the last Mara Dyer book, but I’m reading ACOMAF now so that’s pretty good, too. Sounds like we have a lot of similar taste in books! 🙌
