It’s been an arduous task, but this morning I got the first email actually saying YES to a galley request, and I can hardly contain myself.
Here’s the book and blurb:

A galley from HARPERCOLLINS!! I have never been approved by them on NetGalley or orherwise. I am over the moon. It looks like it’s from Australia (shout out to my Aussie bloggers!) and hasn’t been released here yet. It sounds awesome. I’m so stoked, and I feel like I can finally not be ashamed of all the old denials from NetGalley.
Anyway, had to share. Jillian and Jasmine know why. We are finally in the boat, girls! Yay!
Whew. Ok, back to reading the ARCs I ha e right now!
Congrats!! I saw your request on this book and I requested this morning too. I just got approved. 😊 more books to read now.

Good, we cam buddy read!
Don’t let it get crazy like your NetGalley account, lol! 😉
If Jillian requests it, then it could be all three of us. But not until we are ready to read them together. Imagine, our first Edelweiss buddy read! Awesome!
High five for you, girl!! 🙌

Thanks! Hey, friend me! We’ll get a community going. Check under Stephanie Plotkin…I heard there are two accounts, but mine is the one with the GVSU info, and if you can’t find me let me know, because then I can send you my email address and you can search by that! Or vice versa. 👊👊🙌🙌

I’ve yet to venture into the world of Edelweiss, at the moment I’m content with NetGalley because I don’t honestly request that many ARCs. Still it’s great you got approved for you first galley. I can’t wait to see your review! 😀

Well, it took a lot of denials. And yes, NetGalley is good with me, too. But I was frustrated that Edelweiss always said no, especially HarperCollins. I felt like I wasn’t good enough. I feel much better now!
And I’m not going to go crazy either. I’ve got enough books as it is, and I don’t want to miss out!

You eventually prospered though, and it must have felt amazing when you got that confirmation email after so many denials! I’ll definitely be sticking to NetGalley for the time being!
Yeah, it’s great having ARCs but sometimes the pressure of the deadline can get to me a little as well! 🙂

Between you and me, those denials are what fueled my desire to start a book blog. I realized that bloggers always got the choice books, but I thought no one would care about my blog or follow me, so I wanted to give it a try and see. I can’t believe people (like you) actually like my reviews and read them! It makes me feel like I’m not so alone, and it’s a nice feeling to have friends that share my love and obsession with books. Goodreads was great but this is amazing! I make sure to always comment and read and respond because you guys read mine! I wouldn’t give this up for anything..I may not be the best at doing tags because my nose is in the next book once the previous one is finished, but I like so much that people think of me that I try to do them and be active on here.
This is something that has changed my life for the better, and it is all because Edelweiss kept denying me! Ha! Thanks, Edelweiss! 😄

I felt that way when I started as well, and it always takes a little while to build up a profile with reviews and ARCs and everything. I got a fair few declines when I first started out but now I get more approvals.
I do love your blog, you’ve recommended a fair few that have been added to my to-read list and god knows if I would have discovered them otherwise! 😀
The community is amazing. I love talking to everyone, commenting and replying to all the posts because it’s great seeing what people think of the books they’ve read. I’m trying to get better at tags because I have a fair few in my queue! 😀

I am trying to do one tag a day to catch up, so I promised myself I would do one tomorrow morning. I have so many, but I don’t mind because there’s no time limit on those and it means people are thinking of you. Jasmine always tags me and it makes me feel special. 😊

I’m trying to work my way through my list but there are a fair few and I’d need to post one every day for the next few weeks to catch up and obviously there are book reviews I want to post and the weekly features I take part in. But yeah there’s no time limit which is definitely a good thing! 🙂

Yeah, I told myself I would do one, and then I got caught up in a book! See, that’s what happens. I think I’ll work on them when I’m in-between classes this week…it’ll be good to do it and I’m sure I won’t have time to get too involved in a book, so that will hopefully catch me up some. But like you said, there’s no time limit, and it’s fine with me to always have one to do. It isn’t like books where certain ones are due: the tag is always there, waiting to be done!
I just kind of wish there was a way that I could mark each Pingback on my page to know which ones I’ve done and which ones I haven’t…like a way of accomplishing them! Maybe I should comment on the Pingback page with links to the tags so I know what’s been done?

I kind of feel the same way, I try and plan when I want to post and when but normally things change and life gets in the way and before I know it a month has passed and I’ve posted may two tags but got tagged in five more!
Normally I try and post reviews with deadlines first, for obvious reasons, but for everything else I try and make it so I’m not posting all reviews or all tags, keep a little variety in my posts!
I write everything in a notebook, when I’m going to be writing posts, what tags I have to do, what ARCs I have due and when I want to post them. It helps a lot so maybe you could do something like that!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Wow, you’re able to do that? That’s crazy awesome! I don’t think I’d ever be able to!
I’m so unorganized. I know when things are due based on my calendar or my really great memory for remembering dates (Aug 29 = a batch of books due back that I’m not done with!), but when I make a list or something like that, it never gets done. I did copy and paste the names of the tags to a notepad to remember what needs doing, but then I figure it’s already on my About page, so I can go there. But I do wish there was a little check box next to done for that sense of accomplishment (like with the readathon badges). So I guess I want the emotional and mental accolades without the work of making myself be diligent! That figures…
I’m easily distracted, and that’s the problem. I’ll make myself believe that I’m going to get so much done, and then I start doing something, which leads to something else…I guess I go on tangents. The best way for me to make sure I do something is to make it spontaneous. I dread due dates so I tend to wait to the last minute…I guess I also thrive on stress, even though I hate it.
I have problems. Help me, Beth! 🙃

For the most part yeah. Like I said life does sometimes get in the way but it helps me to have things written down somewhere if not I will forget about them and I’ll get lost in everything I need to do for my blog.
Ahh see not all of mine link back to my About page, some of them link to recent posts so I just started writing everything down in my blogging notebook (I now have a second because I’ve gone through my first one already!)
I wouldn’t say I’m easily distracted, more that I am just a terrible procrastinator and I am always putting things off, not advisable when trying to keep on top of blogging and everything. Yeah I’m no good with due dates either!
I have problems too, so I’m not sure what help I’ll be! 🙂

A blogging notebook! Now that’s an idea…I did just buy this cute little mini-binder at Staples (it’s like, super tiny and I had to have it, even if there was no use for it), and I bought some paper refills because the employee warned me they probably wouldn’t get anymore in. So I’ve got mini binder and tons of paper…I could use it to keep track of my tags!
Beth, you’re a genius! And you thought you wouldn’t be much help! Lol 😉

I just use a plain notebook, whatever I can get my hands on really, but your binder sounds really pretty, and I guess if it helps you organize your notes that’s the main thing isn’t it! 🙂

YAY, congratulations! I have to admit that I haven’t tried EW yet because its interface seems so complicated. XD Netgalley just seems so much more straight-forward, which I know is a silly reason but I’m a sucker for user-friendly interfaces. That cover is gorgeous, and it sounds interesting! Happy reading, Stephanie! 😀

But thank you. The description sounds too good! ☺️

Yeah, and supposedly they are working on making it more user-friendly. We’ll see. NG is my homie…but Edelweiss has some sweet titles!

I’ve just signed up yo EW (which also happens to be my initials – fun fact) and I don’t really know what I’m doing! Haha congrats on the approval 🙂

I don’t either! Lol. Jillian from RantandRaveAboutBooks is doing a post about it, and supposedly the site is getting a facelift, but there’s no rhyme or reason how one gets approved and the other denied. But I’ve always wanted the bigger publishers to grant me access, and I’m finally getting there. That’s my big takeaway from this.
Otherwise, I’d stay away too. But on NG, Harper and Simon & Schuster and publishers like that always turn me down. Same with Edelweiss…until now. So I hope I’m doing something right?

Well I hope they make things a bit more straightforward. I’ve been approved once on NG by HarperCollins, from their Avon branch. But I excitedly requested a bunch in one go when I joined and now have a small heap to get through :s We must both be doing something right!

I certainly hope so! ::crosses fingers::
Congrats on getting the books you wanted from NG!

That is awesome! I looked at NetGalley and signed up and was so overwhelmed that I haven’t gone back to it lol. But I’ve heard it’s hard to get some of the bigger names and such so kudos! And it looks like a really good book, too. 🙂 Congrats!

I just loved the cover and description, you know? Sounds like something similar to my story, so it’s good to make sure I’m not writing the same story, too. 😉

Yes, NetGalley and Edelweiss are both “galley” requesting sites. You can request books before they are published. It’s a big “welcome!” In the book blogger community when you get approved for a book, because they only give so many away.

Ahh! That’s so exciting!!!! Yay! I’m so happy for you. And Harper Collins of all of them. Good for you. It’s so cool getting an approval, especially on a site like Edelweiss where they’re notorious for saying no. 🤗

Yes, that’s how I felt. I’ve NEVER gotten a HC book, ever! I’ve requested on NG and they said no, and I requested on Edelweiss and they said no. Almost all my nos are from them! Then, there’s a yes! I was like, finally!
But I think our friendships are going to help us…I really do. I feel that having you on there helped turn it around for me, so thank you. 😊

It’s funny I’ve never requested a Harper Collins book and then all of a sudden I looked at Edelweiss and I have like 5 requests. That must be why it’s taking so long to get my approvals back. They’re probably like what the hell is with all these requests. 😂 I thought I was waiting on a few more from NetGalley, but they’re never this slow so I guess not. But Edelweiss has been 3 weeks for some of these books and not a word yes or no. How long did your HC approval take?

I think I requested it after Jasmine said she got approved for The Thousandth Floor. So maybe the weekend? But the other titles are still pending: it could be just that title. Jasmine requested it after me and she got it approved too. So it could just be that title. Don’t worry. If you want that one, request it, and I’m sure it will come back faster. Still have yet to hear from the others. Doesn’t help my case that there’s one book on there that I downloaded from Edelweiss for free in May and never read or reviewed. It’ll make me look bad, so I should read it.

I requested The Thousandth Floor 2-3 weeks ago and it’s still pending. The one I got denied for was within days and the approval for Kasie West was I think within 5 days. This is taking forever. 😂 I guess you could read it and if you’re not into it write up a quick DNF comment. That’s what I do when I don’t like it and want to move on.

Good point. And if it makes you feel ANY better, I requested The Thousandth Floor the minute I saw it. So maybe same time frame as you? I don’t know what Jasmine did right…we should be taking lessons from her!

So, I’m thinking we all are friends, and we keep it that way. We can do buddy reads and see what the other is looking at…it’s s cool idea to have friends on there, and I think it will help us learn the site better. Glad you guys connected on there!

I wouldn’t worry…Jasmine could’ve requested it before us…or they ran out of galleys…or they are waiting for something. On NetGalley, there are still two books pending that never answered me and after awhile it kind of pissed me off more than being rejected…it’s like being ignored completely! But if it makes you feel any better,I’m in the same boat! You and I each got one title, and I think Jasmine has three?
