It’s Never A Simple Trip to the Library…

So I just go in to pick up my holds…I promised myself I wouldn’t get ANYMORE books…I was expecting The Sleeping Prince because I have been waiting on it….

This is what I leave with:

It’s not MY FAULT that all the good stuff is there when I get there.

It’s a conspiracy. One that keeps me reading.

Blast you, book gods!! ::shakes fist::
I’ll never catch up…

Oh..forgot to show off my new updated badge for the readathon!!

The first two are filled in: go figure one badge is gray!!

      1. Hahaha, you’ll need to build some sort of protective gear for the face… Or wear a welding mask… That would be quite interesting sight πŸ˜‚
Bookaholics… I don’t think there’s anyone out there would join this particular group πŸ˜‚ unless bookaholics gave tips on how to read quicker and how to double the book loot quicker πŸ˜‚

      2. Lol, not what I had in mind no.. I just thought the poor delivery guy may not have a pair of spare pants with him after he pisses himself at your front door! That mask thingy looks like Freddy Krueger 😁

I wish there were better ones to choose from…maybe something like this? πŸ‘Ή
Ehh, I’ll still make him piss his pants. Especially without the mask!! Hahahahaha!!

    1. Well, I have ACOTAR checked out, so I figured it’s good to hold onto this one until it’s done…I get a long time to have it checked out…and it’s about time these books were just sitting on the shelf, waiting to be checked out! (Except for The a Sleeping Prince, but that’s because I’ve been waiting on that for forever!)

    2. Oh, it’s the sequel to The Sin Eater’s Daughter! I loved that book, and have been waiting for my library to get me the sequel since March! My library still doesn’t have it, but another library removed the “new” status and sent it to me! Finally!
Have you read The Sin Eater’s Daughter?

  1. Oh my god your library has some amazing books. I’m kind of jealous right now, if my library had books like these I’d never leave!
I’m glad you’ve finally managed to get your hands on The Sleeping Prince, I’ll be looking forwards to your review for that one. And I hope you really love A Court of Mist and Fury and Wolf by Wolf, they are two I read earlier this year and I thought they were amazing!
    Great haul! πŸ˜€

    1. Thank you! I do really love my library, because every time I go in there, a book that I would think I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on is sitting on the New Releases shelf! It’s like, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be being read by someone who has been waiting for you on hold, little book? (My thoughts don’t sound that weird, I swear). But I think I’ve figured it out: everyone requests in Overdrive because they want to read the ebook. So while there still is a list a mile long for The Glittering Court on Overdrive, the actual book was chilling in the stacks! My jaw dropped. It’s the only way I’ve really been able to keep up in any way with new literature. (That and I don’t think many YA readers use our library…I don’t know why,,,maybe they’re all playing outside because it’s summer? Or maybe kids just aren’t reading anymore,,,?)

      1. See that in of itself is amazing, my library is not like that at all. There’s never really anything interesting on the New Releases shelves that I want to read, and if there was I’d have to get in a queue behind ten or so people just for the chance to check it out.
(My thoughts are that weird, don’t worry!)
Ohh you can request ebooks from your library can you? See that’s quite interesting how more people request the ebook rather than the actual, but obviously a good thing for you! πŸ˜€

    2. Yeah, I have to admit it is awesome. I was just talking to my mom about this in the morning, about how lucky we are that we have our library. I remember in Phoenix I NEVER went to the library. I think that the “library population” or patrons here are older…and what’s really weird is the YA section will have TLC books checked out, but leave ACOTAR alone. It’s weird…even Twilight still gets checked out all the time! It’s like the YA readers are so random at what they pick. A book from 2009 might never be available, but I can stumble across something that just came out! I got The Crown like the first week it was out! I’ll never understand it, but I know that in the adult section, it’s much harder to find a book (because my mom can’t ever get what she wants), so maybe because I live in a tourist town, I am lucky…I just see no rhyme or reason to it. But I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth! Lol!
Sorry if I’m rubbing it in about your library…I’m sure if I was in your position, I would HAVE to spend more money on books to read them. So I understand now why so many people aren’t using their libraries and are buying books!

      1. No that’s all right. I have a feeling if my library was a lot more like yours I’d go there a lot more. Instead I get my books from Amazon for my Kindle or from my friends. I feel like I should go to my library again and see what books they have on offer but I’m not sure they’d have anything new I’d be interested in. There’s got to be a more YA readership in my town because there’s never books there I want to actually read.

    3. It’s either that or they aren’t ordering new ones enough. I know from the YA lady at my library that they have to wait for budget approval to pay for the books they order, and it can take awhile. I wish more people donated to the library, and then there would be multiple copies of books, just like a video rental store (they get multiple copies, then sell the extras when the hype goes down for extremely cheap…bookstores should do that, lol!)

    4. I think so because libraries are paid by taxes, so they have to wait to get their stipend to buy…the lady at the desk confused me a bit by saying it was ordered, but that they were waiting on budget approval…how do you buy books though when you don’t have the money? Weird, right? They might do it through purchase orders…but it’s interesting to ask her about a book, because she just looks in her computer and tells me if it’s going to be available at our library or not. And she said they almost always get sequels to books they already own. They also take requests…there’s one series I started reading called The Line by Teri Hall, and it was so good: they had books one and two, but not three. When I asked her why, she couldn’t find it available to order. Then she found out that the publisher of the first two didn’t publish the third, and that one was self-published. So I guess you won’t see many self-published works at the library unless a book is donated.
It’s truly interesting…it’s too bad you have to actually go to school to be a librarian, because I think it would be a fun job to do part-time, and then you could learn the ins and outs of how libraries work.

      1. Yeah I’m guessing libraries have different ways of ordering books than we do, I can’t imagine they’re on Amazon checking out the latest releases. Honestly I’ve never thought about it too much, as long as I can get my hands on the books I want to read I don’t really worry too much about where they come from you know. It’s interesting learning about all this, I guess I never really thought too much about what goes into getting books for libraries, but yeah it’s a shame that third book in the Teri hall series won’t be available for you to check out.
And yeah I think being a librarian would be an interesting career choice!

    1. Well, it’s received a lot of hype…so I feel I must read it, so then I can say, “Oh, yeah, I read that…it wasn’t very good.” Or say, “Oh, yeah, that book was awesome!” But I must know!
I hate seeing all these reviews and not knowing, you know? πŸ˜‰

      2. Nice!! I have to see what I have to read still to see what needs to be done. Three is pretty good with how much time is left! School and work yesterday got me so behind!
And if you don’t like something, no one should EVER judge. Unless it’s the Under The Never Sky series…if someone didn’t like it, then I KNOW there’s something wrong with them. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ

    1. Aww, the book community will never hate you! At least I know I won’t.
If it makes you feel any better, I don’t think I’ll like the Throne of Glass books and have purposely avoided reading them because they sound too high fantasy for me. But people love them. So don’t worry: we all have different tastes. Some people hate the books I love…a lot!

And I’m doing better than I thought and have 3 badges, haha.

I saw that you had a fund discussion about new library books and I couldn’t resist weighing in! πŸ™‚ The rural CA library I work in (part time; yes, it’s awesome) will occasionally mark new, popular books as “non-circulation” so they can’t be requested by other, bigger libraries. Usually adult fiction. (Teen fiction isn’t as popular as adult fiction here, for whatever reason.) But we can’t afford to buy a lot of newer fiction anyway, so most people end up requesting popular stuff from other libraries or getting the digital copies.

Wolf by Wolf sounds pretty awesome! I hope you do get a chance to review it πŸ™‚

Your badge is SO COOL! I totally wish I’d signed up for that readathon πŸ˜€

    1. I think it’s the same with my library, and that’s why it took so long for me to get The Sleeping Prince from another library. There are several popular copies that are “express checkout” and can only be borrowed for seven days. I like that so that everyone gets a chance to read it.
Wolf by Wolf sounds SO awesome! I’ll make sure I read it!!
Thanks, I love my badge but it is all Aimal…she made it for me. The readathon is cute, but I won’t make the deadline, so I’m really doing it just for me. 😊
