I Have A Problem…

I went to the library yesterday to return Elsewhere and Down With The Shine because I still have too many books due really soon…The Wrath & The Dawn, The Rose & The Dagger, and Red Queen were all due yesterday, but I refuse to return those and am willing to incur the late fees in order to read them.

But when I went in there…I found a TON of books I’ve wanted to read:

Yes, some are BRAND NEW SEQUELS to books I haven’t read (is Bow’s book and Tahir’s book)..so I also checked out The Scorpion Rules and put in a request for An Ember in the Ashes.

But that’s not all!

I also got an email that ANOTHER wish of mine has been fulfilled on NetGalley! Here’s the email:

So I now have 6 NetGalley books, one Edelweiss book, at least two RaR books, and a TON of library books. And between that and chores, work, and school….let’s just say I’m falling behind, especially when it comes to comments and other people’s posts.

So now you see why I have a problem…I didn’t plan on finding those brand new books…hell, even Empire of Storms was on the new shelf, just waiting to be checked out! My library is awesome when it comes to selection, and that makes it so hard to finish all I want to read.

So if I am a little quiet on the blogs right now or have a tag that I really wanted to do, just understand that I’m trying really hard to keep up with reading, blogging, and life.

Here’s the blurb for Unfolding, which I don’t even remember requesting:

Jonah wishes he could get the girl, but he’s an outcast and she’s the most perfect girl he knows.

And their futures seemed destined to fork apart: Jonah’s physical condition is debilitating, and epileptic seizures fill his life with frustration. Whereas Stormi is seemingly carefree, and navigates life by sensing things before they happen. And her most recent premonition is urging her to leave town.

When Stormi begs Jonah for help, he finds himself swept into a dark mystery his small town has been keeping for years. And the answers Stormi needs about her own past could possibly destroy everything Jonah has ever known—including his growing relationship with Stormi herself.

This isn’t my genre…maybe I saw the part about premonitions and thought it was a fantasy or science fiction…but it’s not listed as either of those genres, so here’s hoping I like it!

Happy Reading! I am at 79% on NetGalley. Which is under the 80% recommended. Sigh.

I’ll see what I can do…

Why don’t you try getting up 30 minutes earlier to read more before work I find it works wonders for me event though I am in bed and asleep by 10pm. Using this method I actually read 7 more books than I was planning to read this month.

No problem I find having a little read with a coffee or tea really sets me up for the days and you don’t realize how much you’re reading each morning.

  2. I feel the pressure after reading your post. I have the same problem with hoarding books so I am as buried as you under EVERYTHING hahaha.. I don’t recognize any of those books except A Torch Against the Night, which, I want that because I’m reading the first book now.. it’s cringe worthy.

      1. Also congrats on that wish. You need to mention all the books you are dying to read so I can know what to request 😂 An Ember in the Ashes is definitely not for the light hearted. I’m scared of The Mask! 😁

    1. Ooh, really? I think it came into the library for pickup today! I’m excited to have it with A Torch in the Night so that I can go straight to the sequel when I’m done reading it.
I will post a list of the books I have out and from NetGalley, but I don’t remember all the books I wished for….I don’t even remember wishing for that one!
I requested two off Edelweiss…but I haven’t heard anything…I have Fear The Drowning Deep on there. I have Six NetGalley titles…I’ll have to list them after I see what they are, but one of them just came out on the 4th called Spindle.

      1. But do you have awesome books? Then it’s ok. I got denied a lot and I was really picky when it came to requests…
I just don’t want to get bad feedback from the publishers. Or have them put me on their naughty list. Idk…I just want to get approved more often, lol! 🤔

Yeah so many awesome books!! Lol.
Being denied really hurts lol 😂
I don’t think they would have a naughty list or it would annoy them, the books are there to be requested.
They just have certain specifications for people they approve.
I think it’s good that if you get denied they tell you some reason they might have denied you for.

  3. I almost feel like having too many books is the best kind of problem to have! But honestly you have some amazing books on your to-read list. I wasn’t really a fan of Bow’s series, I read The Scorpion Rules and couldn’t get into it but I hope you enjoy it, and I really hope you enjoy An Ember in the Ashes and the sequel, both are favourite books of mine now!
Also that’s great news about you getting Unfolding from NetGalley, I wouldn’t worry too much about your percentage either, 79% is still great and it will quickly creep up once you start posting the reviews as well.
    Happy reading! 😀

    1. I’m trying…I really am. I think when it’s TBR Tuesday I’ll post a list of all the library books I have checked out, the NetGalley books, and the RaRs I have due…so you guys can see what I’ve taken on! Lol.
I’m just glad that though I can’t post every day, and though I can’t always do tags (I really want to but I’d rather catch up with your blogs), you guys still read and love my reviews. Makes me happy, because it’s almost all I can do right now.

      1. Just from the way you’ve worded it it sounds like a lot! I have a few NetGalley ARCs I need to get through (in fact I read and reviewed one today so I’m feeling pretty accomplished!) I’ve put myself on a request hiatus until I’ve got through the rest though.
There are always going to be things that get in the way. I’ve taken to starting to draft posts, especially tags and weekly memes which I can get done in advance, and it does help, but either way I still love reading all your posts, reviews and otherwise! 😀

    1. Thank you!
And it does…I’m very lucky to live in a town small enough to where not all the books I want to read are checked out, but large enough to where we get awesome books for our budget. And they say if they don’t have it, request it! I’m very very lucky,

    1. I’m currently reading TW&TD…pretty interesting so far!
I REFUSE to give those three back before they’re read, lol! So I’m trying. Honestly, there aren’t even any holds on the books! They are all on the shelf at other libraries! Smh!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Whenever that happens to me, I usually just go to the library and ask them to renew the book(s) for me (they usually do that for you if there aren’t any holds). I kept a book for three months over the summer because I liked it so much and there weren’t any holds on it, and the library was kind enough to let me keep renewing it. Just a thought, so you won’t have to pay all those fines!

        Liked by 1 person

    2. They DO do that for me…but you get a max of two renewals…and if the book is from another library (happens a lot to me), then they can only renew it once. I have three I am going in to renew today, and one I returned last night…I wish it was the other way around! Lol!

Congrats on getting another wish granted!! 🎉🎉
You’ll get through them. At least the library books are always there waiting for you ♥️

    1. I do, too…I just don’t get much of it. Gotta go to work this morning, and I have to be at school at 8:30 TTh, so I don’t get a lot of sleep…
I WISH I didn’t need it and could read all night…😴
Sorry, nodded off for a sec…lol.

    2. I’m taking FOUR ENGLISH CLASSES!!
But I graduate at the end of the semester. However, one of my classes is called Capstone, and it’s all about writing your thesis paper: a 30 page monster of a research paper. And you have to present it at a conference. It’s going to be a hellish semester.
I wish I could fast forward time and get to Christmas break! I would probably catch up in two days, lol!! 😂

Oh wow!! You are crazy girl!!!!
I hate public speaking!! Presenting a paper at a conference sounds like torture!!! lol.
With how quick this year has gone I’m sure the christmas break is like next week lol.

    3. I’m surprised by the time I answered this comment it wasn’t Christmas break! 😂
No, I wouldn’t present a paper if I didn’t have to for graduation. Everyone has to do it. I’m deathly afraid of public speaking. Luckily the Prof I have is going to prepare us: there are other sections of the same class with diff Profs that basically say, “Good luck,” and send you on your way. Mine may be a taskmaster, but at least I’ll be prepared!!

    4. What? You don’t call your teachers Professor? I can’t call him Bryan: I think he might get offended…
And I can’t call him Mary because that’s not his name…🤔 Or could I? I might fail, but it just might be worth it to see the look on his face…

        😂😂 go with Mary!!
At school our teachers were always mrs last name or mr last name.
When I did my diploma my teachers name was Trevor. We all called him Trev. 😂

Haha yeah he was a cool teacher!!
When I did my Chef apprenticeship/course, we called all the teachers by their first names. Lol.
I think we are just more laid back over here. 😀 😉
Hey You! works really well. I like that one!

  5. I feel I have the same kind of problem when I go to the library. Not to mention I found my way to NetGalley and Edelweiss in August and now have a list of books to read and review from there too. I love it though. Reading is wonderful.

    1. Reading IS wonderful. I absolutely love it. But I just wish I had more time in which to do it.
I could seriously read a book a day, and used to before school started. Now, it takes about 3. Which definitely slows me down!
      😊

  6. Ohh, I’m totally familiar with paying extra because I almost always miss my due dates when it comes to returning book to library. The main reason is laziness, but sometimes I just don’t have time to finish books, and I don’t want to stop reading if I’m already half way through the book.
But in my offence, here in my library you can keep book for only 20 days (and you can’t have more then 3 books borrowed). That way books circulate faster between readers, which is good in my opinion.

As for Netgalley, 6 unread to me sounds like a dream. I have 26 atm, I messed up when I requested so many books at the same time because I was sure I won’t get approved but hoped some of publishers will approve me. I got approved for most of the books and now I have to read them all, which means with most of them I’m behind.
Now I’m requesting only the ones I’m sure I will read ASAP and I try to request a book after I review at least two books.

I wish you happy reading and don’t forget reading should be fun, if you feel like reading read, we other bloggers will be here to support you whether you post regulary or not. 🙂

    1. That was a very nice response! You made me feel so much better! Thank you!
And only three books at a time? Wow…I guess that would make sure stuff got back sooner. We don’t have a limit. But it’s a small town. I’m working on one, and now some are due back the third, but I might be able to renew those.
I love reading and I love blogging, but I want more time for BOTH, lol! 😉

      1. I get you! I got blog because of my love for reading and now when I’m a blogger, I read less bc of how time consuming blogging actually is.
I also live in a small town, but I bet it’s the matter of my country tbh.
I’d be happier if we could borrow five books at time and have them for a month.
And one more thing – here in Croatia libary cards are not free. They are not too expensive, but it always fascinates me to hear that in US and UK are free, and that authors get payed if their books are being borrowed.
And what sucks is how ebooks here are actually expensive. Our country has VAT and every book you pay in US we pay at least 1/4 more, and elibrary is expensive. Some strange politics book whise here in Croatia…

        Liked by 3 people

    2. You have to PAY for your library card?? Wow!
I guess I’ve taken it for granted as ours are paid with our taxes.
I’m not surprised you have the VAT tax…they are trying to pull that here and we are fighting it. We are taxed so much as it is!
I do hope you get some good ones…we can always do a book exchange at Christmas! I’d be more than happy to send you one from the US! And you could send me one from your country!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ohh, I hope they won’t pull that VAT, as you already said, there’s already too many taxes…
Here too, but it is what it is…
Ohh, we can totally do an exchange, I have never done that before.
But here books are translated in Croatian, so I’m not sure if you’d like a book in that language, or in English (we have UK ones in bookstores)?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Hey, I think it’s cool whatever it is…it is special just because it is an exchange!
I think as we get into late November, we should each pick a book that we love, and we can send it to the other! That is my idea of an awesome book pen pal! Sharing across the globe! 🙌

  7. YES! I’m also reading less because blogging takes up too much time to read like a speeding bullet! OH, THE IRONY!! (I think). I’m 50 posts behind on my RSS feed and I’m not even counting the number on my WordPress feed anymore. I also feel blessed to have such a crappy library here now because I’d have the exact same ‘problem’ you’re having! More hours in a day please? Oh, and gratz on getting another wish fulfilled ;).

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you! ::bows::
Yeah, there needs to be at least twelve dedicated extra hours just for reading, so anytime now…?
What’s an RSS feed? Do I need one?
It IS ironic that we are both reading less to focus on our book blogs…that makes no sense, does it?
I neee to stop reading posts and start reading books! This is why you guys only see reviews…I don’t have time for tags or weekly memes…I’m too busy reading all of yours!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Indeed! I’ve tried listening to audiobooks while working, but I’m too old and senile to be able to multitask properly anymore. YES!! Or well…YES!! You need one! 😉 When you get more followers, scrolling through your WP feed consumes more and more time (if you follow most of them back that is, heh, which I do). A perfect way to save time and at least always be able to catch up with your favourite blogs (like mine obviously *winks, winks*) is when you put those on an RSS feed. There’s a little bar in your browser that will tell you who’s uploaded a post, how many, etc. There are 21 waiting for me from my favourite blogs right now…If you use Chrome, you can go to the ‘More Tools’-> ‘Extensions’ -> Get more Extensions -> Search for RSS Feed Reader –> enable it. You can then manually add blogs/websites to it that are most important for you to stay updated with. It can save you a lot of time! I only spend 4 hours instead of 6 now to go through other people’s posts…>.> Which makes me get to your last sentence: same here! I’m glad if I can manage to squirt out one review a week right now! *sighs*

  8. It would be so great if we could have a few extra hours in the day just dedicated to reading 😂 That is a really great library haul!! Just about all of thsoe are on my TBR so I can’t wait to see what you think when you get to them.

With the Netgalley book, if you find yourself not enjoying it then you can just give a quick little review about how it wasn’t really your thing ect. That way it’ll still make your ratio go up and you don’t need to keep reading a book you’re not enjoying! I did that with Stealing Snow recently, haha.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah…I haven’t had a horrible one yet from Netgalley…all are ones I want to read. I have Spindle just begging to be read, and I would like to at least read one a week from there to get it back down.
I’ve learned my lesson about library books…if I can’t get it read by the time it’s due the second time, then I just need to give up. Luckily, the last one that is overdue, Red Queen, is about to be finished. And then I’ll return it today and renew whatever I can. I can only do so much: but dedicated reading hours would be amaze-balls. I would be in HEAVEN!
Sometimes I tell my mom I’m doing homework when I’m actually reading for fun, but I think she’s getting wise to me! 😉
