My Dream Panel – It’s My Party and I’ll Invite Who I Want To!

Sooo…

So it’s time for me to answer the big question:

All true bookworms have their dream list of authors they’d love to meet, but what if you could plan your perfect panel of authors (or even characters) you’d love to hear speak at a conference?

Hmm. Great question. Who would I invite?

This is just a default panel pic. This is imaginary, not real, people!

  • Veronica Rossi

I am a big fan of Rossi’s series Under The Never Sky. Recently she came out with Riders, a book about the horsemen of the Apocalypse. Aria and Perry are my dream ship, so why wouldn’t I want to meet the lady who created me book bf?

So there’s my first panel guest:

My panel pic would be better. But this is pretend. So pretend it’s awesome.

  • AG Howard

I loved the Splintered series. And I’ve been dying to read Roseblood. I love the Alice in Wonderland retelling of Splintered and it has two ships that people fought for: Alyssa and Morpheus and Alyssa and Jeb. I was a Jeb shipper and always will be.

Go team Jeb. ::sigh::

Once again, pretend this is an awesome panel pic. I have all the power! Mwhoohaha! I should do more imaginary things!

  • Melinda Salisbury

Yup, I loved The Sin Eater’s Daughter and The Sleeping Prince. They are beautiful books that I would love to own, and I want to pick the brain of the woman who created such an amazing novel! I can’t wait for The Scarecrow Queen!

So now we need a faux panel pic:

Who the heck is taking these pictures? I would take much better pics! Poor woman looks uncomfortable as hell!

  • Suzanne Young

This one is major important. I can’t have a panel without her. You know why? She’s the reason I’m becoming a teacher!

That’s right: I read The Program series and saw that Young was an English teacher, and I realized that if I want to write then I could also teach, too! She’s incredible and she has not abandoned her fans to write “adult” novels like some authors (::cough:: Meyer ::cough). She stays true to her audience and keeps writing amazing YA novels.

And let’s not forget Hotel Ruby, which has been recovered and renamed, but I want the original cover on my book!

So now we need a panel pic!

An older one, and I had to crop people out of it, but she looks adorbs!

  • Neal Schusterman

You didn’t think my panel was all women, did you? I love Schusterman’s Unwind dystology, and I’ve been waiting to get my hands on a copy of Scythe ever since I heard about its conception. I would love to meet this evil genius!

Ohhh, that cover! #coverlove! I think all my faves have gorgeous covers! I ❤️ you, Schusterman!

Oh, yeah…panel pic!

Well, that one is better than most.

Hmmm…I think my panel is almost complete….but maybe one more…

  • Mary E. Pearson

I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton of authors, but I can’t forget Pearson. I loved The Remnant Chronicles and she’s really the first author who wrote a twist I didn’t see coming. Seriously. Read The Kiss of Deception and you won’t be surprised. I lived in this series for days. She also wrote rhe famous Jenna Fox Chronicles and I still need to read the last book. But I want a pic of her books as posters in my room.

Gorgeous…every one of them. I was drawn to these books not from hearing about them but by seeing their covers in my library. They said, “Read me…I’m a beautiful book.” And I’m glad I did.

One more panel pic!

Here she is, in my pretend panel, signing a book…TO ME!! (Hey, it’s my Dream Panel, right?)

And that’s it folks. I’m sure I left out tons of amazing authors, but these are at the forefront of my mind all the time. I’d go to this panel and get every books signed.

Oh…my gosh! How could I forget?? I can’t believe I would entertain ANY panel without her!

  • Marissa Meyer

Yeah, that’s right! What was I thinking? She’s amaze-balls! I love her Lunar Chronicles series (a lot of series I like are named “Chronicles” I’m noticing). And I just won a Heartless ARC! I love her work and would read anything by her!

And the beautiful book Heartless…

So let’s get her thrown into rhe Panel, stat!

She’s so adorable! What a great pic! Finally, a GOOD panel picture!

Ok. Now I’m done. For real.

That was fun! Do you know who YOU would want in your pretend panel? Love to hear it! I’m sure I forgot some awesome authors!
If you want to make your own dream panel come to life why not check out Eventbrite and their conference management software which makes planning a conference super easy!

    1. I know; I don’t get to see authors most of the time but I have looked at the book jackets for Schusterman, Meyer, Howard, and Rossi. The rest were new to me! Lol.
When I publish my book, I wonder if people will think I look like an author? 🤔💭❓

  1. Nice panel! Marissa Meyer is one of my favorite authors. I haven’t started Heartless yet, but I loved her Lunar Chronicles series. I haven’t tried the Unwind series, but I heard a lot of good things about it. Maybe I should give it a go?

    1. Omg! Yes! The Unwind dystology is one of my fave series! It’s amazingly good. I think I should read it again just so I can review it on here.
I have so many lesson plan ideas from those books…
I went to B & N today to get some Christmas presents and bought one for me: even though I won that Heartless ARC, they had ONE signed copy left of Heartless so I bought it! Now I have an ARC and a signed copy and I haven’t even read it lol!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I know! This is my first real impulse buy! I couldn’t believe I found one signed copy that was the only one! It was hidden behind some books and throughout the store I found no other ones! It was a fluke!

  2. Great picks for your dream panel Stephanie, some of these authors would definitely be on mine! Marissa Meyer and A.G. Howard would be the top two I reckon because they’re series are some of my all-time favourites.
A lot of these are authors whose releases I still need to get around to (Kiss of Deception keeps moving further up my to-read list so one day!) but seeing you feature them on your dream panel has just made me more determined to get around to them one day soon! 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yay! You are totes invited to my dream panel! (Now I have to write a post about my fave thing about Christmas and send it to Melanie Noelle Bernard so she can post it on her blog…still playing catchup but I’m getting better at it!)
I didn’t know you liked AG Howard too! I want to read The Architect of Song too.

      1. Whoop, thanks for the invite it sounds like a brilliant panel! 😀
Sounds like you have a fair few posts you need to catch up on, but I’m sure you’ll manage to get on top of things too!
Oh she’s one of my favourite authors. I haven’t read The Architect of Song yet but it’s on my to-read list as well! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

    2. I AM catching up! I am taking some good advice and deleting some of the older emails that are strictly cover reveals, promotions, blog tours, or Three Days, Three Quotes…things like that. When I’m caught up then I can read stuff like that. But with so many emails and new ones every day, you are right that I need to be more selective and not focus on all of them. I mean, it’s really just not logical to think I can read them all: following 200 or so ppl, they all post once a day or every other day…it’s just not going to happen.
There are only so many blogs where I’ll read every post and tag and meme. (Psst: you’re one of them! Don’t tell!) 😉

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s a good idea, I guess for a lot of people the reviews and more in depth tags are the important ones, and I guess any weekly memes as well. When you have more time you can always go back to ones you missed but there’s no rush. I think you’re always going to have a few emails in your inbox you need to get around to especially if you follow that many people who post every day or every other day!
I won’t tell! And thanks, it’s the same with your blog for me. ❤ 😀

        Liked by 1 person

    3. Sweet! Yeah, you’re one of my must-reads. 😊
Yeah, the little promo posts are just too much when 40 people do them. No wonder you guys blog hop! I’m getting it now. And I don’t mind having a running number of emails to read but I do mind when it’s in the hundreds: it’s kind of intimidating to see that many in your inbox. Especially when you never had that many before!
Then there are the comments to respond to…and Twitter to check (because there is some hilarious drama going on about some chick who said diversity wasn’t required in fantasy while defending SJM books and people started to just HARASS the hell outta her…it’s funny to watch but I learned the tough lesson never to give an opinion on anything on Twitter bc if you piss the wrong person off, there will be hell to pay!) and then the reading. But without school things have been easier. I feel like I have time to post one of those Top Ten Bookish Gift posts bc yours was so fun!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s great to hear! 😀
I imagine it can be, sometimes it must feel like reading the same thing over and over again if it’s not a review or a tag you know? I do blog hop a fair bit, saves me a bit of time in the long run I think. Oh I can imagine, I get notifications from WordPress sent to my email account and that can get intimidating as well, when I’m used to one email every two days and suddenly I’m getting over 50 with posts, comments, likes all that kind of stuff.
How long does it normally take you to check your Twitter then? (Just adding my opinion on the drama because, well I couldn’t resist, but yes we do need diversity in fantasy, we need diversity in all books besides after a while won’t it get a little boring to read about a straight white couple having what seems to be the same adventures over and over again?) I’ll definitely take lesson into account then, I hate the idea of pissing people off, I’m a people pleaser. 😀
Ohh, if you do I can’t wait to see what items you come up with. 🙂

    4. Well, I did just make the post! So I hope you enjoy it.
I usually check my feed once or twice a day…the cool thing about it is, say you get interrupted and you have to leave it, and you go back to look later…it saves your place! Sometimes I keep reading down or sometimes I just refresh it and start over! I’m kinda glad you understand the email mess even though you have to go though all those emails too.
I’m trying to get the list down but every time it seems like I’m getting some deleted, I see a post I want to read. And then I slow down and read it, delete it – and three more pop up right after! It’s like Chinese Water Torture…it’s slow and constant and eventually drives you crazy!!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I think I’ve seen that post in my feed. I’ll be sure to check it out in a little bit! 😀
I pretty much always check my feed, and I can normally remember where I left off as well but it’s handy it remembers for you as well. Yeah the emails can pile up when you’re not paying attention can’t they?
It sounds as never ending as my TBR list! But at least you’re finding posts you want to read, there are probably loads you still have to look forwards to as well! 😀

    5. Yes, I’m def Hunger Games-ing my emails! Some make it, some don’t. But the best ones are getting read.
I’m down to 600someting now…it’s a process but it did take awhile for it to get that big…(if three or four days is awhile, lol)…so I guess it will take time to get through them. People just have so many interesting things to say, and some bloggers I realized I have barely talked to, so I try to make an effort to post comments on their page. Yes I have my faves (obvi) but I try to make time for everyone.
My mom flipped out on me today bc I have been glued to the iPad nonstop for two days. Sometimes I really wish I had my own place where I could do what I want, when I want. As a 33 yr old adult, it gets old to be talked to like a 12 year old who still isn’t old enough to live on their own. I am old enough, but don’t have the money. So I get hassled and she says I should limit my blogging to “two hours a day.” Maybe I should…but why is it her business? Ugh. I don’t have a bf, I don’t have friends…I should at least be able to blog or read. Sigh.
Sorry, had to vent there a min. It’s sucks when she flips out at night bc then it’s too late to do anything to make it up to her and make her happy. If she bitched at me during the day, I could just clean something and she would leave me be, but she always waits until it’s too late to do anyrhing to “fix” the day.
I just wanted to be able to have Christmas stress-free for one year…lol, guess that’s not going to happen! 🙄🙄🙄

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s a good way to describe it I think Hunger Games-ing some emails! 😀
That is good progress I guess, what was it before then? I suppose as well if you still have emails coming in while clearing others out it may be a while before you feel like you’ve made a sizeable dent. It’s hard when you get behind isn’t it? To catch up again, but I’m sure you will and I’m sure you’ll find some amazing posts out there too! 😀
Oh that sucks. I feel like I want to move out soon as well, the only issue I have is that everywhere seems too expensive. Plus as I work in London I’d ideally like to be there for work and that’s even more expensive. It’s not easy is it? I can’t imagine limited my blogging to two hours a day, even on days when I have work the following day I’m blogging for more than that, and most weekends it’s all day blogging (well, not all day but maybe half a day). Honestly if blogging makes you happy you should spend as much time as you need on it. It’s just a shame your mum doesn’t see it that way. Besides there are worse things we could be doing on the internet.
No that’s all right, we all need to vent sometimes and if you ever need to I’m here for you to vent at! 😀 That is a shame, is she any better now? Maybe it’s just stress with Christmas coming up, that seems to be everywhere in my family at the moment.
Hopefully the actual day will be better then. 🙂

    6. Got lost among the emails. But I unearthed it today! Down to 270 now! I think I’ll get to prob 100 or so and always have that many.
Thanks so always listening to me vent. She is feeling better now. She had to go to the doctor and get put on antibiotics. She’s much better now.
Have you gone shopping for your books yet? I’m dying to know what you get.
My blogging is being monitored…she says I need to do other things (ugh). On the 7th to the 16th I am housesitting for my aunt, and I’ll be able to blog as much as I want! Mwhoohaha!
      Whatcha reading now?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s good to hear! And great about getting down to 270 as well, before you know it you’ll be in the one hundreds and hopefully that will be easier to manage.
That’s all right, and hopefully the antibiotics will help your mum as well! 🙂
Not yet, my friend is buying me books for Christmas and I haven’t seen her yet so I need to know what ones she’s brought me before I can go on my spree!
That is good to hear, bring on the 7th in that case! 😀 Not reading anything at the moment but next on my to-read list is Caraval and I can’t wait to get started on that one! What about you?

        Liked by 1 person

    7. Thanks as always for the kind words!
Next on mine is Freeks by Amanda Hocking, and I’m part of a blog tour. I really want to read Caraval, but I didn’t get approved for it, so that’s one I’ll have read once I get my hands on it.
And yes, the email is going well, though there are always more, lol!
Doing a readathon for HP just like I said I would…will be rereading!
Hope you get some cool books!

Ohh yes I think I remember you mentioning you were part of the Freeks blog tour. That will certainly be exciting, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for your post for that one! I can’t wait to get started on Caraval, it’s been one of my eagerly anticipated releases for a while now!
Did you get through more emails today then?
I need to do a HP readathon at some point, I always love re-reading that series! 😀

    8. Nah, we went Antique Mall shopping bc they have crazy sales out here on NY Day. We got some pretty sweet stuff! I’ll have to Instagram some: there seems to never be enough hours in the day! No…my email is impossible; I get it down to 270 and now it’s 460 again just by slacking for less than 24 hours. I need a new system, for reals. I haven’t even had time to post my own posts besides the book review!
This is why I’m buying a book journal. I emailed the people who make the YA book journal, but they haven’t gotten back to me. I just wanted an idea of what they include so I know which journal to buy. But I think I’ll get a reg one or the Listography one you showed me.
You can join our readathon if you like! It’s me, Tiff, Jas, Sammi, and Megan right now. We are starting Feb 4 and taking it slow so we can read other stuff too…it might take us a whole year to finish the series!!
But you have to join Twitter so you can be part of our group chat! Love to have you there!

      1. I’ve never been antiques shopping, I imagine you got some good bargains though, and I’ll be sure to check out your instagram looking for pictures as well! 😀
Jesus that sure does go up quickly doesn’t it? I think eventually you’ll find a system that works for you, it takes a little while but hopefully you’ll come up with something soon! You definitely need to post again as well as checking out other people’s posts.
Ohh, that sounds interesting, hopefully they’ll come back to you soon but either way I’m sure you’ll create an amazing book journal! 😀
That sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve never taken part in a readathon before but it’s always fun to read books with other people I think! 😀
Yes, I will, Twitter is next on my to-do list! 🙂

    9. Oh, good…I’m really looking forward to seeing you in Twitter!
Yeah, I’m really happy about Fri. When I go to housesit! I’m going to be completely on my own, with no one watching over my shoulder and telling me not to read or blog. I’m going to go nuts! First, I’m going to post my review. Then, I’m going to go through some major emails. Then, I’m going to bust out my library books and read a PHYSICAL books for once! I never get to do that bc when I’m sitting with a book, my mom scolds me…it’s when I’m on my iPad that I can look like I’m busy but actually read…I’m going to get so much reading done!
It’s like a vacation for me, and I get paid for it! Yay! 😁😁😁😁😁

Ohh so it’s Friday now, at least it is over here, does that mean you’re house sitting now? I’m sure it’s gonna be a blast! Plenty of time to blog for sure! 😀

    11. Actually I’m having a lot of fun! I’ve never watched The Amazing World of Gumball or Teen Titans Go and they are hilarious! I’m able to check my mail and go on Twitter and no one is yelling at me that I’m being lazy!!
Tomorrow is strictly blogging, review-writing, and some serious email reading! (I kinda spent a lot of the day watching cartoons bc my mom hates “the sound” of them in the background and, even if she’s not watching TV, bitches about the background noise of anything other than non-cartoon shows. (She says the voices are annoying…sigh.)
Can’t WAIT until you are on Twitter so you can read about my many adventures, lmao!! 😂🤣😂🙌

Sounds like you’ve got a busy day planned tomorrow. I have work and there are tube strikes on so not sure how I’m going to get in but it will be an adventure that’s for sure!
        Neither can I! 😀 ❤

They are two cartoons on Cartoon Network, and they are hilarious. I actually didn’t do anything today either. But luckily I have to go to the post office and mail something for my aunt bc she forgot to send a package before she left, so it’s perfect motivation for me to stop being such a couch potato! Lol!
      Good luck getting to work!

    1. She IS so super cute! I found a signed copy of Heartless at Barnes and Noble yesterday and though I won the ARC, I had to have it! I think Meyer can make anything good. She seems like she would be really nice in real life. Though I gotta say, AG Howard, Mary E Pearson, and Melinda Salisbury are incredibly nice! They seem awesome on Twitter, responding to my tweets about their books, and they all said they would be down to participate in my Dream Panel! 🤔💭

    2. Only lucky bc of you guys! Without this blog, I wouldn’t have met you guys, gone on Twitter, or entered these giveaways for books that you guys have read and reviewed! Truthwitch, signed, is coming to my house from a Twitter giveaway, and I found an ARC of The Forgetting at a used bookstore yesterday. Then my friend Gretchen at chicnerdreads saw how hard I was trying to win Roseblood and she offered me her ARC! I mean, wow! This community is great!
And greenonion nominated me for best new blogger of the year. I finally have a place I belong. I have people who I feel if I met in real life would be my best friends.
Where was blogging when I was a fat kid as a child? I would have never been lonely! I wouldn’t be a new blogger: I would have bee blogging for years, lol.
Thanks for all that you say. You put a smile on my face!
(Oh, btw, sent out Anne’s SFATW package yesterday…shipping is so expensive, like, $59 or so…anyway, I know she’s sick but I wanted to let you know).

    3. Thank you for running the SFATW program! It’s a big endeavor and you mastered it!
I talked to Anne today and she was in the hospital for her pregnancy (I don’t know if she’s told ppl or not but she’s really sick) and she mailed mine out today. I’m so excited to see her unboxing!
I also did a small SFATW thing with my friend Sammi at onebookishgirl and sent her a signed copy of Three Dark Crowns (she won it in a giveaway but they wouldn’t send it to AUS so I let her send it to me and I mailed it to her), A copy of The Thousandth Floor, a couple VC Andrews novels that I had doubles of, and a bookmark from an author friend. Both packages together was $122! But I got Sammi’s package today and she sent me THE SAME BOOKS (which I wanted myself) but with the beautiful AUS covers! I’ll be posting it on Instagram momentarily.
You do this twice a year, right? Because even though I haven’t gotten Anne’s yet, and the shipping was pricey, it was super worth it!
I’m so glad we did this!! 😊👏👏👏

And I do love all the connections I’ve made: Sammi sent me Vegemite, which I’m nervous to try, but I would never have had the chance without your brilliant SFATW program. I love it.
If shipping was cheaper, I would mail books all the time! 😊

Also I totally think I might finally tackle (re-tackle) the Kiss of Deception for the end of the year. I think it’s time I try it again. I’ve heard good things and having Mary E Pearson on this list is selling the book to me more.

But the lady told me not to mention it…the only reason I am now is that once I let her know I did it, she recommended “edits” so I fixed it, then she recommended another “edit” and I was done. I fixed it but I wasn’t pleased about it. I’m not good at “selling” especially when I’m not being compensated for it. I feel sleazy.
But I like your panel! Great choices! We can always dream right? And most of my authors said they would be down, so it’s nice to know. 😘

What a fun post! I forgot to congratulate you on winning Heartless- has it come to you, yet? So exciting!!

My dream panel, hm…this is so hard because they’re all so smart and I get totally star-struck, haha. But I would definitely invited Veronica Rossi!! Also, Meg Caddy, Max Gladstone, J. R. R. Tolkien and Connie Willis (thanks to you 🙂

  7. I’m so glad you liked her book! I was so bummed when she didn’t win the GR contest but someone told me that she will win the Nebula Award! That would be aweome!
I did get my copy of Heartless…I won a signed copy of Truthwitch too! I posted it on Instagram: do you have Instagram? I’ll post some book mail today, too!
    What are you reading?
