It took forever, but I had to add it for posterity! Want to remember and I don’t know how long I will have access to this dope graphic that shows all the reading I did this year.

P.S. The actual count is 168 – that first “book” isn’t a book but a compilation rating of the reading done in 2016…and I gave it five stars!!

Happy Reading, y’all!!

    1. Me too! I don’t know if they did it last year, but if they did, then I missed it. I wanted to keep it always!
And thank you! I hope to keep the reading up this year…but part of it was that I worked somewhere where I could read all day and answer phones, so I got a LOT of reading accomplished. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thank you! I’ve seen some that are very high, and it can make your amount seem small in comparison! I talked to someone on Twitter that read something like 400 books! I was like, what??
So thank you very much! I am proud, but also I read some great books this year. Here’s hoping 2017 will be just as good! ๐Ÿป

    2. Hey, that’s still great! I asked the person about it, and they don’t work so it figures! I think any goal is amazing and we all have different availability. The only way I was able to read so much before is because I worked for a place where I answered phones and I could read during downtime. This year will prob be a lot less. I just hope I hit my goal of 100.

    1. I like to keep it at 100 because it makes me want to go past the goal…you know?
Last year I got 117… so this year I have to nail it! But as long as I meet my goal, I’m a happy camper!
      Thank you, Annie! ๐Ÿ˜˜

    1. I liked The Dream Protocol but it was way too short. I would read the next book in the series, though. And I do love the cover…
The Rest of Us Just Live Here I think I gave three stars…it was ok. Forgettable. Cute premise but could have been executed better.
See? They were both kinda forgettable. Not bad….just meh. ๐Ÿค”

  1. I love how Goodreads does this feature at the end of every year. It’s always such a nice way to look back over everything you’ve read so far isn’t it?
And wow you got through some amazing books throughout 2016 Stephanie, I can see some of my all-time favourites on here, which I really hope you enjoyed. Also 169, or 168 whichever you want to say, is such an amazing achievement, to say you’ve read all those.
Here’s hoping 2017 is full of just as many amazing books for you! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thank you very much!
What’s throwing my count off is this little option to make a review of your whole year…so it’s not actually a book. Still, I’m happy at 168. Better than last year’s number of 117. And isn’t that the point? To do better every year?
I always set my goal at 100. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep the reading up this year!
I’m obviously not surprised we have similar books on there! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Still if you take that one away 168 is an amazing goal, better what I read this year at least, and as long as it's better than your last year figure that's good as well right? Hopefully next year will be better for you and you'll get through more books as well! ๐Ÿ˜€

I have been setting it at 100 for two years and have passed it, so hopefully this will be year #3!! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

    3. Oh, hell no! Never mess with success! 100 has worked for me twice in a row, so I’m keeping it that way…I may not surpass this year’s numbers bc I was able to read a lot more when I didn’t have a blog. I just had Goodreads so I read all the time! Now I have social interactions: I used to read a book a day most days, and now it takes me three or four!

      1. Maybe one year I can go a bit adventurous and change it to 125 or something, see if that works for me for a few years! ๐Ÿ˜€
Honestly my reading habits vary, I read a lot more now I’m working in London and have a longer commute to work but yeah there are a lot more social interactions taking up my time. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. So many wonderful books you’ve read in 2016. There were a few I read as well, many I haven’t, and a lot that I want to read. It was wonderful to see your Goodreads year in books! Lovely post!

    1. Thank you, Tiana! You inspired me! I would never thought of how to do it until I saw your post!
I hope you get to read some amazing books this year, and I’m glad I’ll get to see what you read by following your blog.
      Lovely post to you, too!

  3. That is a lot of books! And I thought I had a problem haha ๐Ÿ˜‰ how did you like The Handmaid’s Tale? I loved the concept and her writing, but I have a hard time connecting with her work. It’s a shame. I also noticed you have read Alice in Zombieland. Thoughts? I have it on my Kindle to start.

    1. I read The Handmaid’s Tale for class and I liked it…I haven’t read her other work though. I was going to try but haven’t gotten around to it. I think I liked it so much because we also watched the movie and discussed it a lot in class. (My class was called Feminist Utopias and Dystopias and it was a very cool class…we got to read all sorts of speculative fiction, but none was YA so it was a very different than what I was used to).
Alice in Zombieland was fun. However, it’s also the book that made me start this blog. It’s really NOT YA. There’s a lot of “steamy scenes” as Showalter is a romance author. It’s also Harlequin Teen. So I was unprepared. When my aunt gave it to my 12 year old niece for her birthday, I grabbed it and made my aunt turn to ANY RANDOM PAGE and read: it’s not appropriate for younger readers at all. That’s what made me decide to start ranking for age and classroom-appropriateness, and TeacherofYA was born, lol.
So I personally liked Alice in Zombieland: it’s got very conversational dialogue and you really connect to the characters. But it’s NOTHING like Alice in Wonderland (like it’s a stretch besides her name is Alice and her sister makes rabbit shapes in the clouds). If you go in knowing all this, you might like it. It is very dependent on the reader…if you go in knowing all this, then I think you’ll like it.
I know that was a lot of info, but I just wanted you to be prepared! It’s def what I would consider NA now. Hope you enjoy it! ๐Ÿ˜˜

      1. How am I the only person who seems to not be aware that they made a film of the Handmaid’s Tale? I seriously have never stumbled across this..!

Thanks for the heads up on Alice in Zombieland. I would not have expected all of that at all.. in fact I feel ready to march into book stores and re-shelve it. Whoa! I will make sure I am in the right mode before cracking that one open.

    2. I didn’t know about the movie until it was played in class…it came out in the early 90s with Natasha Lyonne and Elizabeth McGovern. It wasn’t huge and it’s hard to find unless you’re looking for it.
Yeah, they need to make NA more popular, because they put books in YA so they’ll sell. It really should be NA. My aunt was recommended that book because my niece likes zombies. Obviously the guy who recommended it hasn’t read it. Sigh. That’s kind of why I do what I do, so that I can help avoid that in any way I can.
I hope you do like it…it’s funny for sure, just more risquรฉ than I would have thought for a “YA” book. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. I love that you do what you do! I have two kids. One a teenage daughter, that I constantly struggle to try to find a healthy and appropriate balance with all of her media. I do not want to shelter her, but at the same time, some things should wait ๐Ÿ˜‰ Your reviews are fantastic! โค

Now you’re gonna make me blush! But I’m glad you like them, thank you for making my day!

  4. You’ve read so many books last year! Looks like such a great year too with a 4.4 average rating – mine was 3.2, haha. But I am pretty stingy with the higher ratings, soooo it’s not all that surprising. Hope you have an even better year in 2017. ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. I was stingy with the lower ratings!
I think I’m getting better now: I used to use 3 stars as my lowest until that book Wanderer. Now I won’t be surprised if that number goes down since I finally gave my first two star rating ever!
So honestly, that number is prob a little skewed. I’ll be more discerning this year (I felt bad when I was reviewing giving anything less than 3 stars bc I felt that was for books that had grammatical errors and stuff). I changed my rating system now and so I think you’ll see more three stars from me: I’m tired of being super-nice and then misleading anyone to read something crappy!
Like, I gave Stealing Snow 3 stars and it prob should have gotten two from me.
      But I learned!!
I hope 2017 ROCKS for us, Reg!! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™Œ

    1. Another gobbled up comment! Man!
I loved TWRC…but we talked about that last night! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰
I see you figured out how to do this: I asked Tiana the same question the same day I posted this. She hadn’t gotten back to me and originally I took screenshots, but I was housesitting and had access to a computer, so I actually used the snipping tool and got more accurate pics of the graphic, then used those. I ended up with like 22 images, but it was worth it so I can save it for posterity.
Last year I didn’t have a blog, so I no longer have that one. Now I’ll be able to look back and see how much reading I got done compared to 2017!!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

      1. Haha I had to screenshot it all. I have a Mac so the snipping tool on it is weird and shit.
Will definitely be great to compare reading years, just downloaded the coolest app, it’s like goodreads but better. Check out ‘Bookout’. You may have already seen it on Twitter lol.
Lol could not figure it out at all!!!
Complete memory blank at what TWRC haha I am with it now!!! I need to finish that series plus a million other series…

  7. This is such a neat idea for a blog post! I always thought the way Goodreads displayed our reading history at the end of the year was such a visual treat and so informative.
169 books is an incredible achievement, Stephanie! I don’t think I could ever read that many in one year, so you’re doing amazing! Also, I didn’t realize Winter was such a long book! 832 pages is woah!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah, I didn’t realize Winter was so long either! I was surprised when I saw that!
I do love how they do this…last year I didn’t have a blog, so I couldn’t share the graphic. This year, I mainly saved it so that I can compare to next year’s reading. I think it will be enlightening as I am trying to branch out in my genres and reading tastes,
But it’s not about the number, it’s about the experiences you have, so though I’m proud to have read so many books, I’m also proud to just be reading. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Here’s to a great 2017 for you…I’d love to see your year in books!

    1. Thank you! I love looking at it so much that I sat there on the computer and used the snipping tool to get the pics to all post together! Screenshots weren’t lining up, lmao!! (I’m OCD but I’m working on it)
But now I’ll be able to remember it. I just wish it was a graphic to save and keep. You gonna keep yours?
