My SFATW Unboxing!!

Anne from inkedbrownies and I participated in Marie from drizzleandhurricanebooks‘ Souvenirs From Across the World program! It was awesome! I sent Anne a package and posted a link to her unboxing earlier, but if you missed it, you can see it here: Anne’s unboxing.

This time, it was MY TURN.

Do you have any idea how much trouble I went to in order to film this and upload it? A LOT! I’ve never uploaded video to anything…and then it was too long. So it’s in two parts…the first one is most of it (you can apparently only post 15 min at a time, and mine was 20ish). But if you want to see the awesome goodies she sent me, and they are awesome, please check it out!

Hope you had fun and didn’t mind my singing too much! Lol.

Happy Reading, and I hope you all participate next round!

    1. Well, next one around I’ll make sure to let everyone know about it because Marie said not many people signed up…and it’s a great program! I saw the spring/summer one and was geared up for this one! It was awesome! Def hope you’ll do it with me this spring!

  1. Ive just a had a nocturnal barf fest going on, so this happened to have caught my one open eye (2;30am here). My comment for now is: yaaaaaaaaay!! And the letter is from a special Ewan 😂😂😂. It’s written in Scottish slang and he has a motor bike *hint, hint*. Back to bed now but 😘😘. Sharing this tomorrow and shizzle! 💕

    1. You are such a dork, Anne!
I can’t believe you wrote me a card from “Ewan McGregor!” I totally forgot about that convo we had where you asked me who my fave celeb was! I feel like I was punked! Like I’m such a dork for falling for that! You must’ve have been laughing your ass off when I was talking to him in my video! 😳😳😳
That headband will bring me so much luck.
I wish I had sent you wooden shoes now! And coasters from Holland, MI! This was the best exchange ever! I was dying as I read your notes included. 😂🤣😂

  2. I watched Anne open her box and now I got to watch you open yours! I am so jealous and am going to Sign up for this next time. What a great way to get to know another part of the world. Too funny you singing and trying to speak Dutch! I would love to do Owlcrate too, but sadly I have two daughters who suck every dollar out of me!! Hahaha

    Great post!!

    Thanks for sharing with us!

    1. So glad you enjoyed and watched it! I know…if I had money, I’d be all about Owlcrate!
Next time, I’m doing a post and letting all my friends know about it, because there are a lot of people that say they would do it but just didn’t know. So next one! It’ll be fun!
I’m really glad you actually watched the video, cause I saw a couple likes immediately after I posted the videos and I’m thinking, “No one could have watched that video so quickly!” So thank you for watching it cause it was really hard to upload and post, lol! 😘

      1. I got a 6-month subscription with my husband’s credit card initially. We’ve been eating stale bread and pancakes ever since. Hoping I was on time with cancelling my subscription this time, though. I tried in October and then it said I was too late :/. Guess this one’s going out of the baby fund! 😉

Don’t you hate it when that happens?! I’d like to think they just like something ahead of reading/watching things ;).

    1. Thanks! ☺️
I do like it: it makes me feel special to have a nickname! I never have had one among friends, so I feel extra special. 😊😊😊
I’m so glad you watched the video and it was such a wonderful experience. It made Anne and I even better friends. 😉👍

  3. And for the awake comment version: YAAAAAAAAAY! I’m so relieved you liked it! As for the button, it has something to do with YA, but I have no idea myself. Figured you would :’) :’). Poor St.Nick having turned into a puddle of chocolate poo :(. I thought it was supposed to be cold on a plane?! And you know, winter! Maybe someone at customs put the box next to a fireplace. Hopefully, the other edible stuff hasn’t evaporated as well. Bastards.
Anywho, I LOVED this video! You totally made it work \õ/. I tried making an instruction video on how to make Dutch pancakes awhile ago. It literally took me 5 hours to get it to work, only to realise the file size was huge. My second attempt at trying to make it smaller resulted into turning it into an MP3 file and deleting the original version… Listening to me whisking some eggs on your iPod yo. So yes, this was awesome!! :-* And I love your singing :’).

    1. I realized after the video that St. Nick broke. I thought The Body was his head…but his head was hidden behind his body. It’s all good; he’s just gonna get eaten anyway!!
You really outdid yourself Anne. And you made me think I went nuts until I saw yours! The Owlcrate stuff was awesome, and you picked out two incredible books! I seriously was near tears of joy. It has been an amazing week: all the cool swag you sent me, plus I won a giveaway on Twitter for two books of my choice, and THEN this morning I found out I won a giveaway for Silver Stars, book two of Michael Grant’s Front Lines, a YA Historical fiction book that asks what if women were fighting in WWII.
You made my year. I want to do this again with you…we can send smaller packages through the year! I had so much fun…and you know me so well.
Only when you start feeling better!!
Thank you thank you thank you for everything. You always make me laugh and you are a great friend.
Now tell Ewan McGregor that he needs to come over and sit on my lap and tell me he’s been a bad boy!! Then he can “sharpen my knives,” if you know what I mean.
      They are kinda dull…

W00t! Stephanie got mah package and made an awesome video of unboxing it! Apart from the chocolate puddle that was once the glorious St. Nicholas, I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out! Check out her video y’all! She put a lot of effort into it and it’s so much fun to watch! Especially the part where Teach doesn’t realise Ewan McGregor has sent her a postcard in Scottish ;). ❤

    1. Spamming your comment section here, but I just noticed my poor handwriting skills made you think I spelt ‘iggs’ instead of 1995 :’) :’). The tin is a collector’s item from 1995 but I removed the 20-year-old candy and put some other candy in there instead 😀

  5. I swear I could cry, this is making me highly emotional haha. I am just so, so happy that you and Anne both filmed your unboxing, I LOVED watching this and discovering all of the gifts you send each other, it really makes me the happiest to see that. Also, I can’t thank you enough for all of your support for my Souvenirs From Across The World feature. It wasn’t easy to put together, and it took me a lot of work even just for a couple of people participating, but I would love it if it could become a real “thing” in the blogging community. So obviously I am so, so grateful for all of your enthusiasm about it – and… if you want to spread the word about it next time around (it will probably set place closer to the summer, June I’m guessing), well I’d LOVE to. You could be like the official pom pom girl for this hahaha. Just throwing the idea like that haha ; all of this just to say THANK YOU for making this and sharing it, it means the world to me that you had so much fun with this ❤
And, everything in that box is so thoughtful and perfect and THE FOOD, and OwlCrate, I would sing too if I ever got something from OwlCrate hahaha. AND erm, I WANT YOU TO EAT THE WAFFLES. :p

I will be your PomPom girl! I will help in whatever way I can…this needs to continue! We had such a blast and Anne and I spoiled the hell out of each other. We are going to keep the correspondence up when she feels better: I feel I made a stronger connection and now we will be friends for life! And you made that happen. So thank you! 😍😘❤️
      Same time next round? 🤔😉

  6. Hey Teach, Coco, Marley and Larry ;-), nice video!! Awesome package and unboxing! My favourite thing was the Flawed book but it wasn’t easy to make a choice because so many cool things ;-). You both outdid yourselves!I hope you enjoy the stroopwafels and all the candy (I’m probably the only one who understands everything that was in Dutch ha).

    1. Ooh. Sounds pretty good! I’ll have to try them tonight!
Now I feel bad I didn’t send her any Michigan chocolate covered cherries 🍒! I was worried sending food in the mail…I didn’t want people going through the package. Though I’m pretty sure they did on her end bc her chocolate Santa she sent was broken. I think it’s such a violation when they do that. But I guess they have to. 🤷‍♀️

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Chocolate covered cherries from Michigan sound good! I don’t like it either that someone opens a package.. but a chocolate santa is a bit fragile, it’s just a thin layer of chocolate so maybe it was just from throwing with the box on the airport. If I see how suitcases are handled sometimes..

    2. Yeah, honestly that’s probably it. I just like blaming others…lol. Jk.
This is my first international package dealie. So this is all new to me. I saw a pic once of someone receiving their box and it had been gone through ny customs and I just thought, what a violation! But I get that they have to do that to keep people and countries safe.
I was mainly worried because after the package was all wrapped up and ready to go (the one I sent), the customs form asked me every item inside and what it weighed! I had forgotten half of what was in there, so I was really concerned. Luckily it got to her in one piece. And I’m so glad it did!!

  7. Wow it looks like you got some amazing gifts from your SFATW box Stephanie. I really hope you enjoy both the books. I haven’t read either myself but I do own a copy of Flawed so hopefully one day soon I’ll be able to get around to it, and I’ve heard some amazing things about The Miniaturist. It seemed to be everywhere in London a few months back and plenty of people were loving it so hopefully you will as well.
I always love the food items in the boxes. When I first took part with Donna and I saw she included chocolates I accidentally (I say accidentally) ate all the chocolates before I could take any photos. I learnt my lesson with my box this time around, the chocolate was saved at least until the photos were taken! 😀
I’m guessing given your first go at SFATW was such a success you’ll be taking part again right? It’s always so much fun putting together a package and sending it out, plus you get some amazing gifts in return as well! 😀

    1. Yes it was awesome!! Did you see Anne’s unboxing? I think we both did pretty good.
I need to see yours still…but I’m in Askimet jail again and it’s pissing me off! I even contacted them but bc I’m not a premium subscriber I’m not getting a fast response. I hate blog hopping when my comments go to spam.

      1. Yes I think so, it was the one you re-posted on your blog a week or so back right? Her box looked amazing as well.
Mine will be posted soon-ish. It’s going to be part of my January book haul because I have a lot of books from this month!
Oh that’s a shame, and I can imagine, makes you feel like you haven’t got anything done because everything you have done has gone into the spam folder. :/
Hopefully you’ll get out of comment jail soon! 🙂

    2. I went directly to Askimet and they bailed me out. Maybe it won’t be a problem again! 🤞🤞🤞
Oh, I’m excited to see your book haul. I should post one bc I won a couple giveaways and have been getting a ton of indie review requests. I had to start putting them on the calendar!
Today is my six month blogoversary!! Yay! I wanted to do a giveaway but I have a couple authors coming up who are willing to offer a book up as giveaway prizes, so that should compensate as I still have no job and haven’t gotten paid for housesitting yet. Tues they come back and I hope they pay me enough to buy one book I saw on Book Depository because there are only 9 in stock…and I have health insurance to pay! Lovely grown up non book problems right?
Ugh. I’m reading two indie books now and neither are very good. It looks like one will be my first DNF review! It’s just chock full of horrible writing.
Can’t wait to see that SFATW post! Can you tell me what books you got?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Well let’s hope so, if not at least you know you can go to Askimet and they’ll bail you out.
Well it sounds like you’ve got a lot coming up in that case. I’ve gotten a little behind on reviews and posts I wanted to draft this weekend so I need to get more done this week than I’d originally planned, and next weekend as well. That’ll be great about the prizes, and it’s a shame there’s going to be one book that’ll be a DNF one for you but you shouldn’t have to force yourself to read it if you’re not enjoying it. I’m sure that’s not the reason you started blogging in the first place.
Congrats on your six month blogiversary! That’s amazing, and hopefully you’ll be able to get your book from Book Depository as well.
Hopefully I’ll be able to post my haul soon but I do want to wait for my Fairy Loot box to arrive before I do. I got Plain Kate by Erin Bow, sounds interesting so I need to find sometime it get around to it soon! 😀

    3. Oh, that’s right! I remember you telling me! Same author as The Scorpion Rules.
I’m so glad we got to participate in SFATW. It was so much fun.
Yeah, I finished two books that are due for review today, so I’m going to go post them. I don’t think I’ll be able to review Slumber, but I’ll give it another try. Three times…that’s the best I can do. Too many books to read and I use to plow through them, but not anymore, and I have enough books waiting in the wings to be read.
A lot of authors have been emailing me, so I have a bunch on the calendar!
I hope I have time still to read Scythe before it’s due back…otherwise I have to buy it with my gift card. I can’t not read that book, and I’m not going back in line behind 19 people again! Lol!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yep, same author as the Scorpion Rules, which I think is another book I need to read. Honestly I’m losing track of what I have read so far.
        Definitely a lot of fun!
Oh that’s good to hear, well not so much about Slumber but about the other two reviews, you seem to be getting through them quite quickly now! Also three times is more than enough. It’s two more tries than I normally give books!
A calendar seems to be the best way to do things like that. I need a diary or calendar or something because I just have no clue what I’m doing with my life at the moment, and not just in terms of books.
Hopefully you’ll find time for it then. I’m assuming you still have a little time before it’s due back, enough to read it maybe?

    4. I’m hoping so! I think if I read it tonight, after Amazon stops rejecting my review of this book (one of the conditions on ebooksforreview is to review on Amazon, and I hate reviewing there because I have to remove all the code and then the review comes back as unacceptable and I have to try again! It’s so freakin frustrating!!), then I might be able to finish it.
I hate being rushed but it’s my own fault. I haven’t found a balance between reading, bloghopping, and Twitter. It’s hard. I still have all those emails, but reading takes time…and I’ll be done with housesitting soon and I’ll have to find a job somewhere. I wish I was a housewife or something. I wish I just had more time. Just like how you mentioned you want a way to keep track of things: I am putting stuff on the calendar, but I’m still not getting the “life” stuff done. The blog is going well: I wish that paid me, lol! I might actually make some money!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ohh, that’s annoying, that Amazon has all those things in place that stop you posting reviews without removing things. Still I guess once it’s done it’s done right?
It’s still hard for me to find time for everything but I guess in a way I’m lucky that I have such a long commute because I can read on the train. It would be nice to have more time for blogging but I guess until then gotta make do with the time we have! 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

    5. Well, you are my time sensei! I will learn from you! Lol!
Yes, once it’s done it is done and it’s a relief…I need to put more reviews on Amazon but mainly only do it for the authors who give me galleys! It’s so much easier!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I’m still learning myself so it will probably have to be more trial and error than anything else! 😀
That’s good to hear. I don’t really put my reviews anywhere but my blog, obviously that will change when I finally create my GR account though! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

    6. I think the one you have is nice already…but it’s your call. I use my personal one for GR but I can understand wanting a nice separate one for blogging. It never occurred to me to make a new one, and now they’ll always be 100 or so books that I read but never reviewed!

      Liked by 1 person

    7. See, I get that! If I hadn’t used GR for so long without a blog and started reviewing on there, I would have done the same thing probably. Bc now there will always be books on there that will never be reviewed and it does bother me. Unfortunately I used my account like a blog for a long time, fearing if I started a blog, no one would want to read it…it’s amazing to think about that now.
      Makes me happy.
Well, as long as you always add me to wherever you go, that’s all that matters to me!! 😉😘

      1. I can’t go back and review all the books I read before starting my blog, so I’m just going to start fresh with a new Goodreads account. Seems easier that way to be honest. You’ve definitely come a long way if that’s the case! 😀
Of course I will, no matter what accounts I create I will make sure I always add you! 😀

    8. Oh, I couldn’t either! That would be so much work, plus I don’t remember a lot of those books tbh.

So I think the program is awesome. It was just a little ironic that my partner was in the Netherlands and we have a Holland, MI here that is filled with similar things!
