TBR Thursday? Totally!

So I haven’t posted in awhile and that’s totally my bad! I have been all over the place with reading, acquiring beautiful books to read, and anything to do with books in general! (Don’t they smell so pretty? 😂)

Plus the teaching has me plum exhausted by the end of the day! I’m working on some Backlist Reads (The Bone Witch is my jam right now), but I have received some pretty exciting releases…and since last time you guys said you liked looking at my books…well, in lieu of a review (since I’m not done reading the book yet!), I decided to share some of my upcoming reads that I’m over the moon about receiving!

Here we go!!

Entangled Teen is totally my super friend. They sent me a copy of The November Girl and I am loving the sound of this book! Here’s a little info (and it’s perfect bc it’s still November, lol):

**A November Goodreads Best Book of the Month!**

I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive.

Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns eighteen. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there’s no one here but me. And now him.

Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I’m half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can’t protect him from the storms coming for us.

Sounds hella good, right?

I was thrilled to receive this…but they also sent me this amazing package that was huge and filled with goodies, and I just about died.

I’m not one of those fancy Instagrammers that can make gorgeous pics, so this one was my best attempt. But this package really made me feel like they love their bloggers! It came with the book, Haven, and if it wasn’t for this, I would have missed out on hearing about it! Here’s the blurb in case you are in the dark like I was:

“We all hold a beast inside. The only difference is what form it takes when freed.”Rain Ryland has never belonged anywhere, He’s used to people judging him for his rough background, his intimidating size, and now, his orphan status. He’s always been on the outside, looking in, and he’s fine with that. Until he moves to New Wurzburg and meets Friederike Burkhart.

Freddie isn’t like normal teen girls, though. And someone wants her dead for it. Freddie warns he’d better stay far away if he wants to stay alive, but Rain’s never been good at running from trouble. For the first time, Rain has something worth fighting for, worth living for. Worth dying for.

Yeah, I could get into that!

But they also sent me a mug, a poster, a portable charger (I know!), a lavender sachet, and a bookmark. Of course there was a little card and chocolates – but the chocolates are long gone. Godiva is too irresistible to save.

Now I have also been fortunate to have awesome friends who send me books or swap books with me. These are the amazing reads that are just so gorgeous, and I still have book mail that needs to be opened!

Could this be any prettier?*

*The answer is no. No it couldn’t.

Here’s what The Queen’s Rising is all about!

When her seventeenth summer solstice arrives, Brienna desires only two things: to master her passion and to be chosen by a patron.

Growing up in the southern Kingdom of Valenia at the renowned Magnalia House should have prepared her for such a life. While some are born with an innate talent for one of the five passions—art, music, dramatics, wit, and knowledge—Brienna struggled to find hers until she belatedly chose to study knowledge. However, despite all her preparations, Brienna’s greatest fear comes true—the solstice does not go according to plan and she is left without a patron.

Months later, her life takes an unexpected turn when a disgraced lord offers her patronage. Suspicious of his intent, and with no other choices, she accepts. But there is much more to his story, and Brienna soon discovers that he has sought her out for his own vengeful gain. For there is a dangerous plot being planned to overthrow the king of Maevana—the archrival kingdom of Valenia—and restore the rightful queen, and her magic, to the northern throne. And others are involved—some closer to Brienna than she realizes.

With war brewing between the two lands, Brienna must choose whose side she will remain loyal to—passion or blood. Because a queen is destined to rise and lead the battle to reclaim the crown. The ultimate decision Brienna must determine is: Who will be that queen?

Are you kidding me? I LOVE this kind of fantasy! I love kings and queens and pretty covers, oh my! When I saw this book, I knew it was one of my most anticipated reads. I was so psyched to get a copy.

Have you guys read Gilded Cage yet?? If you haven’t, then this one won’t be as exciting to you as it is to me. Basically this is the sequel, and I have been stalking the Twitterdom to find a copy. Luckily one finally came along…and I need to read it ASAP. My love for dystopian lit will never change. (I won’t even add a description here because if you haven’t read Gilded Cage, it won’t make sense to you and probably will spoil it for you…but read the book. Do it. I’m waiting.)

I got this book from my lovely friend Makenna, my head exploded. Like EXPLODED. I AM A MAJOR SHUSTERMAN STALKER. I loved the Unwind dystology and I am eager to read Scythe. This book is TO DIE FOR (ha ha get it? Oh, prob not if you haven’t read Scythe…I started it awhile back but my library copy had to go back…and then there were others…now it’s a priority for me to read it!)

Here….I will also wait patiently for you to run and go read Scythe. And then don’t spoil it for me because I’m planning on reading it next. Lol.

I knew as a coverwhore that this was one I had to have, even if I ended up hating the book. It’s STUNNING. My picture doesn’t do it justice. I am ashamed to even photograph it.

Here’s what The Wicked Deep is about:

Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow…

Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.

Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.

Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.

Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.

But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.

Anything witchy is up my alley (if you haven’t read The Heretic’s Daughter and you are a witch trial buff, you must with a capital M read it). It didn’t hurt that this is one of the prettiest books of 2018, either. If I was artsy, I could imagine all sorts of Instagram shots. But alas, I am not. And my camera on my phone doesn’t like the foil lettering.

I think I’ll leave off with this one and make this a two-parter post…way too many juicy reads to shove into one post, I’m realizing now. I was going to leave off with Batman, but I think I’ll save that for next time, mwhoohaha!

But that doesn’t mean The Final Six should be discounted!

This book is a science fiction, my all-time fave genre! (You thought it was fantasy, didn’t you? Well, you would be wrong! Hahaha!)

When Leo, an Italian championship swimmer, and Naomi, a science genius from California, are two of the twenty-four teens drafted into the International Space Training Camp, their lives are forever altered. After erratic climate change has made Earth a dangerous place to live, the fate of the population rests on the shoulders of the final six who will be scouting a new planet. Intense training, global scrutiny, and cutthroat opponents are only a few of the hurdles the contestants must endure in this competition.

For Leo, the prospect of traveling to Europa—Jupiter’s moon—to help resettle humankind is just the sense of purpose he’s been yearning for since losing his entire family in the flooding of Rome. Naomi, after learning of a similar space mission that mysteriously failed, suspects the ISTC isn’t being up front with them about what’s at risk.

As the race to the final six advances, the tests get more challenging—even deadly. With pressure mounting, Naomi finds an unexpected friend in Leo, and the two grow closer with each mind-boggling experience they encounter. But it’s only when the finalists become fewer and their destinies grow nearer that the two can fathom the full weight of everything at stake: the world, the stars, and their lives.

The final cover for this is not as pretty as this one, so it makes me sad. Why mess with success? I think this cover is boss! (Yeah, I just went old-timey with ya!)

So that’s it for my sharing right now…there’s lots more to show but I can’t just put all the good stuff in one post! And I really should see what happens in The Bone Witch since the sequel, The Heart Forger, is coming out, and it looks just as jaw=dropping as the first one!

What are you reading? Any of these on your TBR? Have you read them yet and want to tell me how awesome they are? Are any of these new to you? 🧐🧐🧐

Thanks for checking out my TBR Thursday! *Note to self: make this weekly……

    1. Actually, it’s funny: I didn’t meet them! I think somehow I signed up for their blogger list and I finally must have gotten their attention! I rarely get to receive books from pubs – I used to a lot more but I think I fell behind too much. I am happy that Entangled still has love for me bc I love their books!

    1. Thank you! Long time no see! 😘❤️
Yeah, that blew my MIND! The charger says Entangled and they must have swapped it out for the wolf stickers on the little list – and I don’t mind! Everyone I’ve talked to says the book is really good so I’m happy it’s one I might enjoy! What are you up to? I need to do some blog catching up! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    2. Omg I know how that is!! I am in the same boat – minus the move! 😂
I have this one bookshelf and the rest and all over the floor, tables, and drawers! It’s madness. I am trying now to get rid of the ones I will never read (donation time!) and trying to put sequels together…ARCs and HCs of the same book matched up. It’s really crazy.
The only thing helping the insanity is LibraryThing – that app helps because I scan the books in that I have and I can keep track…I just still have a bunch that need to be scanned! I think it’s going to be a book party weekend!
How’s the move? Are you liking it?

      1. Yeah I’m done a bookshelf (it didn’t make a move) so my floor is currently a replacement 😂

It’s good! We kinda didn’t have much of a choice because we had to be out of our old house ASAP but we managed to find something decent. It’s just unpacking everything and trying to settle in that’s the hard part hahaha.

    3. Oh, goodness yes! Unpacking a life’s worth of things and putting them into the nooks and crannies of everyday living is such a bitch! It’s like, oh I have to find a place for this odd spatula that used to be sandwiched into the space between the drawers! You know what I mean?
For a long time I thought my mom and I were moving to Florida so we started packing all the strange odds and ends first. Then the job fell through. Now it’s like, did we pack this? And if we did, where did we pack it? 😂
Good luck honey! I’m wishing you luck on the process! My books are on the floor but that’s because I have no shelves and so, as you said, the floor is my shelf now! 🤦‍♀️

    1. Good to know about Haven! And I cannot wait to read November Girl. Some of the books are so pretty that I could be happy even if they suck to own them! 😂
2018 is going to be an epic year for book covers – I mean, books. 🤣
