So I couldn’t go without blogging about the holiday since I have the Christmas spirit! Yes, I’m frantically wrapping presents 🎁 and I’m so excited for tomorrow…but I also think of all of you and how thankful I am to have you in my life.
Most people feel thankful around Thanksgiving I think (hence the name). I tend to feel more thankful around Christmas.
Yes, I have things to do to prepare for tomorrow (and I know some of my Aussie friends celebrate today)…but I just had to check in. Many of my books have been delayed because of the crazy holiday mail…so I haven’t received a book in a couple of days. I fear I will get a bunch at once – I guess it will be a book Christmas!! 😂
The chaos that is my living room right now
I did just finish Emily R. King’s The Hundredth Queen and I cannot wait to review that for the blog – I already bought The Fire Queen because it went on sale so the timing couldn’t be better! I also received some amazing books from trades and friends, so I would like to share them with you in the spirit of the holiday!
Talk about a Christmas miracle! This book has been on my WL for so long that I never thought I would get a copy. My Meyer collection is coming along and it means so much that my friend Sabrina was willing to part with it.
I know many of you received Furyborn in the Fairyloot box – I don’t get any sub boxes so I was thrilled when a friend had one from hers and already had the book! The mail is so crazy this time of year that it went on a semi-vacation and came to me a little damaged…it just taught me NEVER to send Media Mail during the holidays! (I’m hoping all the books I sent to friends arrive all right but I did elect to wait until after Christmas to mail most of my gifts…so we will see). This book sounds fantastic and the cover on it now pales in comparison to the one coming on the finished copy. I hope to find it at ALAMW when I go in February.
I am a HUGE CHARBONNEAU FAN. I loved The Testing trilogy and I met her when she came to Michigan. Though this book is contemporary (and you know how I feel about most contemporary books), I read her book NEED and I loved it. So I’m truly looking forward to this piece of genius from one of my fave authors.
There are several more but I wanted to spend this post catching up and also checking in with some of you. What have you been doing this holiday season? Can you believe 2018 is almost here? I’m trying to read as many books as I can before the year ends to pass my Goodreads goal. I’m off for two weeks like my students are, so I plan on spending that time reading, reading, reading!!
I even started making my shelves a little nicer since I only have one (you might recall this from my post about too many books), and I’m happy to say it’s coming along well. I have been a little too busy right now to finish – but this is one of the shelves so far:
Yes. One row. But it’s a nice row!! 😂🤣
My New Year’s Resolution is to downsize my older books and put those into the classroom library…then I’ll try to get a couple more actual shelves and try to stop living in stacks. If I had my own home, it would probably be a little easier; living with your mom means having to keep most of your life in a bedroom. And a basement. But I’ll be damned if that bedroom and basement aren’t going to look fantastic!!
So my mom will be back from Starbucks any moment (she got a gift card from her office holiday party), so I have to get back to present wrapping. But I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and if you don’t celebrate the holiday, then I want to wish you a happy Monday!!
Thank you all for being my bloggerinos and for caring about what I have to say. This blog means so much to me and I don’t know what I would do without it. You all are the reason I love doing this. I have a big reveal planned for the 1st of January…and with it something fun! So hang in there and I’ll see you soon! At least again before 2018 comes!!
