I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by 13echo…thank you! I love receiving awards from my fellows bloggers, and I’m a big fan of 13echo’s blog. I am honored when people think of me.

Here are the questions given to me:

My questions:

1. What genre do you want to read more of?

I want to read more YA, of course! I was originally only reading YA dystopian novels, but I branched out to fantasy and science fiction. I love fairy tale retellings! I could read those forever! 

    2. What’s the worst book you’ve ever read?

It’s called 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I was so excited to read it! He’s gotten rave reviews, and the description sounded awesome. This woman, who’s an assassin, ends up in a similar world but not her own, so she calls it 1Q84 instead of 1984, which is when the story takes place. I didn’t know it was three books in one, so my Kindle showed it at 900+ pages. I didn’t even realize the length of the book until I noticed that no matter how much I read, the % of book finished stayed the same

 I got to 20ish percent, and still nothing of any significance happened. The only thing the character notices at that point is that the police’s uniforms look different. I didn’t want to DNF it. But I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had never NOT finished a book…I felt so bad. I told someone at Barnes & Noble that I didn’t like it, and she said he was very advanced, and I should “work up to Murakami.” I wanted to slap her right there. I mean, what are you saying? That I’m not smart enough to “understand” the book. Oh, I was pissed. Every review for it is a rave, but I think it’s overhyped. It’s also one of the books that transitioned me out of just straight adult to YA. So at least something good came out of it. (If anyone who reads this liked the book, then my apologies for knocking it. Just was not for me. At all.)

     

    3. What’s your favourite childhood book?

It’s called Larcadio by Shel Silverstein. My mom used to read it to my brother and me at night before bed. She’d read a bit and save it for the next night. I do t have a copy anymore. But it seriously will make you cry.

He’s obsessed with marshmallows and even had a suit made of them when the men took him to their world. 

      

    4. What movie adaptation did you think was better than the book (if any)?

My Girl. I don’t remember who wrote the book, but Macauley Culkin and Anna Chlumsky were in the movie. The book had the girl really messed up. The movie made her a lot more likable. She even kills her own goldfish in the book! I didn’t like it. But then again, I read the book after the movie, and that can happen sometimes. So I try to read the book first so I’m not disappointed in it.

    5. Do you prefer reading in the morning or in the evening?

Oh, evening for sure. I’m too tired in the morning. I prefer afternoon the most, though. 

    6. What’s your favourite quote from a book?

I don’t think I can answer this off the top of my head. I’ll have to check my Kindle. ::checks Kindle::

   7. Are a part of any book clubs?

Nope. Just Goodreads, my Goodreads groups, and my blogs. I consider that close enough.

    8. What’s your favourite blog post that you’ve posted?

Hmmm. That’s a tough one. Probably “Book Triples.” I couldn’t believe I found a cover that was shared between three books! Three! I’m still amazing. 😮😧😯

    9. What are your favourite websites?

These are good questions! Um, Goodreads. Amazon. NetGalley. And my blog. 😎

    10. What other hobbies do you enjoy doing, apart from reading?

I haven’t had much time for hobbies lately. My blog is one. I collect old vintage postcards from the early 1900s, or the “Golden Era” of postcards. I like going to antique stores. And garage sales. And thrift shops. I love photography but don’t have the equipment. I play the flute, but it’s been AWHILE.

     11. Do you have a goodreads reading challenge for this year, if so what is it?

Yes, I did. It was 100 books. I have surpassed it. My goal was 100 books, and I am @ 113 now. Last year it was the same, but I made it to the end of the year at 117. So I’m about 40 books ahead of schedule. I was going to up it, but with school starting soon, my pace will slow down. But I want to see by how much I can surpass it! It’d be nice to get to 150, or even 200!
